ROKH is a futuristic survival game, deeply rooted in scientific and realistic anticipation, where players will have to work together to overcome the numerous threats they will have to face on planet Mars.
Playing on persistent servers, you will experience a truly sandbox experience. No mission or quest here, define your own goals according to your own needs! And to succeed, find your own way to play with the many game systems available.
As a newcomer on ROKH and its Mars Colonization Program, you must find ways to survive by exploring Mars in your basic astronaut suit, looking for resources. Oxygen, food, water – all your life support systems will have to be cautiously managed.
Here is your first training session to prepare you for your mission:
Build your base alone or with your crew to have a better chance of living the big life on this hostile planet.
Crafting items will allow you to spend more time outside and protect yourself.
Trade with other players and do your best to maintain peace; you would not want to fight with your fellows in such a hostile environment.

A UNIQUE SETTING
PERSISTENT SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST… OR SMARTEST
Make sure that each and every one of your moves serves one goal: survive! You will need oxygen, food and water, and you will have to protect yourself from heat, cold, radiation, injuries and so on.
Mars offers you some easily accessible resources, but you will have to be agile and creative to access the rest of them.
CRAFT AND BUILD
Suits, robots, devices and weapons are craftable and customizable to your taste, but first and foremost serve your needs. Build a smart shelter by making sure your pipe system can welcome future add-ons.
Some crafted devices can be socketed in your walls to give extra capabilities to your base: automated or programmed tasks, heavier defense systems, survivability, comfort and more.
FRIENDS OR FOES, PLAY WITH OTHERS
Join forces with your friends to combine and increase your efficiency. Trade with other friendly crews to continue developing your own ecosystem. But it's up to you. You're free to decide to be an aggressive lonesome settler.
AN ACCURATE YET GAMIFIED MARS
For Early Access release, the map will be 155 square mile / 400 square kilometers. Using real data from NASA and leveraging our experience, we're really proud to offer such an immense playground, solely using available technologies. With 155 sq mi / 400 km² of highly uneven terrain, you better be well prepared for the awaiting expeditions.
Mars may be desolated but it's not a dead nor boring environment. With ROKH, we're taking you on a believable journey and your ability to navigate in the various environments and take advantage of their resources will be critical in your survival. Different biomes, craters, active volcanoes, ancient river beds, ice veins are among the different landscapes you can expect.
And remember that Mars may be your first enemy here. Natural threats such as dust storms, solar rains or meteorite falls will constantly challenge you. Oh and we’ve been told it’s very cold at night, so make sure to have the proper equipment…
Don’t be surprised to discover crash sites and abandoned bases, you’ll soon learn more about what happened to the first members of the ROKH program. But don’t be scared, it’s a great of opportunity to get the equipment you may need!
A GRANULAR BUILDING SYSTEM
The tile system in ROKH will turn your habitat structure — every wall, ceiling and floor — into a gigantic grid. This grid allows you to plug every device together with pipe combinations and electric circuits.
You’ll have to intelligently place devices to balance the extraction of resources outside and the consumption of refined products inside of your Martian base.
But please! Remember your training: don't forget to build an airlock and pressurize your space before removing your helmet!
THE NEXT LEVEL FOR CRAFTING
All of your tools, devices, weapons and habitat materials are crafted by you. ROKH has a deep, but intuitive recipe system (not just blueprints) following the “easy to use, challenging to master” philosophy.
Exploration and harvesting constitutes a huge part of the crafting process. You start with simple handheld tools which help you find and gather raw resources, like native iron on the Martian surface. Eventually, you’ll have huge, automated subterranean mining installations and smelters, opening up a whole new world of resources beneath the surface.
Further down the line, your items will be made of multiple parts and complex components, each combining their stats to create truly unique customization. Just changing the coils in your Gauss gun from nickel to platinum can make a huge impact – literally!
A COMPLETE IN-GAME PROGRAMMING SYSTEM
With the in-game programming system, one of the craziest features we’ve designed in ROKH, you can achieve the ultimate building experience by turning your habitat into an automated base.
It creates a lot of possibilities: you can control your airlock, remotely launch your devices outside (e.g. launch the extraction of ice by the ice driller outside your habitat, control the pumps, transfer liquid and gas from one tank to another), start and schedule your refining/smelting of raw resources according to your criteria (duration, number of units…), set up your defense system....
More than taking control of your devices for basic functions, the in-game programming system will allow you to make your devices execute more elaborate tasks like an automated production chain.But beware of potential hackers. You would not want some smart geek to take over your whole system and turn it against you...
A STRONG SOCIAL EXPERIENCEThis is your game! And we want to combine our experience with your feedbacks and contribution to make it an amazing sandbox.
Backing this project from the EARLY MARTIAN COLONIST (€10/$11.5/£8.4) Tier, you'll receive the Steam version of the game for PC. Here's what you can expect for each tier rewards:

If you add €13 (about $15 and £10) to your reward tier, you'll receive one additionnal steam key for the Early Access Release of the game (same steam key as the one in the MARTIAN COLONIST TIER).

Thanks to these additional resources we'll have more devs working on the game. That way, we'll be able to speed up the development & integration of one of our major additional features: craftable vehicles. In that case, it would be available for the early access release in september 2016.

To create ROKH, Darewise Entertainment has partnered with the talented studio Nvizzio Creations.
ROKH is co-directed by Benjamin Charbit from Darewise and Marc Albinet from Nvizzio, leading a team of 17 people.
BENJAMIN CHARBIT - CREATIVE DIRECTOR - DAREWISE ENTERTAINMENT
First investment banker, Benjamin was soon overtaken by his passion for video games. He joined Ubisoft and cut his teeth as Assassin's Creed Multiplayer Content Director before creating Darewise Entertainment. Darewise Entertainment’s business model is inspired from the movie production industry. Darewise aspires to create ambitious game concepts, identify powerful studios and partner with them while sponsoring the development.
MARC ALBINET - GAME DIRECTOR - NVIZZIO CREATIONS
Marc is a videogame veteran developer who spent almost 30 years working on game design and creative direction. After working on several legendary games and companies like Agony for Psygnosis, Alone in the dark for Infogrames or Little big adventure for Delphine Software, he founded independent studios and shipped games for big companies like Infogrames, Ocean, Atari, Activision, Disney Interactive and Ubisoft. After more than 20 games fully shipped, he went back in the AAA industry, in Ubisoft Montreal Studio, to notably ship Assassin’s Creed Unity as Game Director. Marc joined Nvizzio Creations to lead the develoment of ROKH in early 2016 as producer/Game Director on the project.
In 2015, Nvizzio Creations spun off Funcom’s game development teams, a studio behind the acclaimed games "Age of Conan" and “Secret World”. The studio located in Montreal, Canada, is now working with some of the most innovative game publishers in the world.
We started the pre-production of the game last September and spent 3 months to draft the documentation (design & technical) and setting the art direction with concept arts. We started coding the game in December with a small team. We are now a team of 17 people dedicated to ROKH and we hope to get your support to add more resources to the project and ship it with a larger feature set. If €100.000 seems light in regards of a full game budget, raising this money, and more, is very important for us to:
- Immediately put more resources on the development and ensure a bigger scope for the Early Access release.

Risks and challenges
Creating a game is always a challenge.
But ROKH has been developed from the very beginning with a low-risk strategy. Not only have we invested our own financial resources, we also gathered a team of industry veterans who worked on major AAA games such as Assassin's Creed, Age of Conan and The Secret World. They are bringing their expertise to the project to overcome every obstacle.
