New Press: My Old Kentucky Blog and No Depression

Posted by Dare Dukes (Creator)

Hey, Kickstarter Lovelies.

There's been a ton of super great press of late.  I just wanted to tell you about two in particular:

1. Today giant indie music site My Old Kentucky Blog premiered our new single from the record, "When the Sky Breaks."  This is kind of amazing, and we're beside ourselves about it.  Also, they've posted for exclusive download an unreleased cover I recorded last year (in my attic, all by myself) of Brian Eno's "Some of Them Are Old." Go get it, if it twists your nut.

2. A week or so ago, giant indie music site No Depression posted an interview with me, including live footage of our recent show at Headliners Music Hall in Louisville, KY.  This, too, is kind of amazing, and, yes, we're pretty dang excited about it. Go read about it, if it spins your propellor.

None of this would have been possible without your faith and support!

Okay, now get back to work.

Best,
Dare

Please Vote in MAGNET Magazine Poll

Posted by Dare Dukes (Creator)

Hey gang,

MAGNET magazine has listed "Thugs and China Dolls" in its new release poll.  We release the record next week, and it'd help us a lot to list high in this poll.  Please head on over to MAGNET magazine and help us out:

We Have T-shirts

Posted by Dare Dukes (Creator)

Hey, gang.

Here's the lovely t-shirt design!

It's at the press now.  It comes in silver crew-neck for men, white v-neck for women.  We'll send it out to you, for those who ordered them, after the new year!  And all the rest of you can pre-order them on my bandcamp page right this second.

The record release parties (party 1 here, party 2 here) and tour are rapidly approaching.  We're getting all excited!  Please check the tour route and come on out if you're anywhere close.  We'd love to hug you.

Cheers,
Dare

Press and Tour and Stuff

Posted by Dare Dukes (Creator)

Beloved backers.

I just wanted to take a second tell you how much all your support has been doing.

First, feast your ears on the CD's single, "Meet You at the Bus."

Early Press
The PR campaign just started, and "Meet You at the Bus" been posted on more that 10 blogs around the world.  Check out a selection of them at Hypemachine (a music blog aggregator).

Just a couple of highlights.  Minneapolis music blog Music That Isn't Bad said this:

“With hints of Tom Waits, Dare Dukes has made a wonderful album that takes a quirky romp around the American landscape, exploring the people and places that comprise it. With plenty of horns, banjo and accordion parts there’s no lack of musical diversity, and Dare Dukes does a great job of rallying all that sound under a single banner based around smart, upbeat, pop-folk hooks and breakdowns.”

And Indie Rock Reviews said this:

“Somewhere between They Might Be Giants’ off-kilter playfulness and The Decemberists americana romanticism lies Dare Dukes’ brand new single ‘Meet You At The Bus.’”

Tour
And finally, we've been working very hard--very, very, very hard--to book a super duper tour of the east coast in support of the release.  Hopefully we'll be coming to your town!  You can see the evolving show calendar here.

Holiday Two-Song Single
In collaboration with the record label Furious Hooves, I'm releasing a two-song single for the holidays called Ghosts of Christmas.  Go to my bandcamp page to preorder the digital download or physical CD, with limited edition (only 50) handmade tasty art work by Furious Hooves.  Here's a fun fact: one of the songs on the single, "Artifacts," was commissioned through this very Kickstarter campaign.

Thanks so much for your love and support.

Best,
Dare and the gang.
