About this project
We're FUNDED!!! Time for Stretch Goals.
What do you think, folks? Do we stop here and say "that'll do"? Or, do we keep pushing and reaching higher and higher?
We've added some new stretch goals to the campaign. For a scant extra $1250, we'll be able to pay the cast and crew to stick around for an extra day of shooting, giving us more screen time to explore Abi and Finn's relationship, and more time to scare you with arvies.
We have some other options available as well. Check it out:
ARV-3 is a thrilling, sci-fi short film based on Cameo Renae's best selling dystopian novel.
Big Hollywood blockbusters are quickly taking over the theaters, and the movie studios are making films that appeal to the average masses. The niche market’s originality is quickly fading, and inflated budgets are watering down the stories that we have loved for so many years. Most of us who love sci-fi aren’t average, and we don’t really want anyone to ever consider us average. We want to be unique, bold, and original, and we want films that celebrate those qualities.
That’s why it’s important to support the people who are trying to make movies for the fans. They’re people who love stories in the same way we love them, and they want to make things that we will enjoy. Even more than that, they want to make films that excite us at the thought of being involved.
We want to be those people.
We are bringing on board Hollywood veteran Matt Singer, famous for his prosthetic work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Star Trek: Nemesis, to make sure ARV-3's zombie-like 'Arvies' are done the right way.
Cameo Renae is a young adult paranormal/fantasy author known for In My Dreams and the Hidden Wings Series. Her book ARV-3 has been climbing the charts on Amazon.com, and her stories are much like her personality: entertaining and full of life.
Timid Monster is a sci-fi/fantasy filmmaking team made up of Dan Baker, Rachel M Taylor, and Katie Baker from Memphis, TN.
We are best known for our shorts John Gray and our most recent award-winning short, Avarice, which was shown throughout the country at film festivals and comic conventions where we learned how much we love involving fans in the filmmaking process.
We need to raise $7,500 to make this film come to life. The money will go to the costs of production equipment, cast and crew, prosthetics for the Arvies, and production design.
The Timid Monster team will be dedicating their time and efforts to the project and putting all funds into the production of the short.
WHAT DO GET FOR DONATING?
Not only will you receive the perks in your donation tier, but you will also be included in the project through all phases of production.
WHAT DOES THIS PROJECT MEAN TO US?
Even more than the opportunity to explore new fantasy worlds, we love stories with a strong message.
This film is about confronting the helplessness and anger that change can sometimes bring. We know from experience how completely terrifying that can be. It's difficult to to know when to let the past go and move on to what lies ahead, and when to dig in your heels and fight. We believe that stories have a hand in encouraging us to confront fear and overcome oppression.

Risks and challenges
We love producing great films. That's why we labor over the story longer than most and meticulously plan every detail of the shoot well in advance. We're confident we've assembled the right team to shoot the film, but there are two potential obstacles:
The Script - there is absolutely no point to any of this if the script isn't rock-solid. We're honest, hard-working writers, but some stories are harder to adapt than others. Writer's block and dead-ends can cause production delays, which in turn will cause delivery delays. We will keep everyone updated and seek help when needed.
Post-Production - Sci-fi films with complicated effects and high production values are notorious post-production monsters. To alleviate the load on our already small post-production team, we're planning to do as many of the effects in camera as possible, hence the rather large percentage of the budget set aside for prosthetics and makeup. Delays are always possible, and we will keep everyone updated as things happen.
Lastly, we are totally dependent on you, the fans, to get the word out about this project. We've done our homework and have lots of fun promotional schemes planned, but it comes down to you. If you want to see the story come to life, we invite you to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty with us. We can't wait to work with you.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
