About

FFR Media is comprised a group of graduates from Bedford High School in Temperance, MI. For the past five years, we've been broadcasting Bedford's Varsity football games online. It has been an endeavor that has let us bring these games to literally thousands of individuals across the country.

It's been a volunteer effort. The school provided the equipment and we provided the talent. During a drive to a game this past season, our team started discussing what we would like to do with what we've built. We decided to start our own company to do what we've been doing. This will give us the opportunity to provide advertising time to small businesses in the area. It has also allowed us to develop the long term goal of setting up broadcasts around the country so that other schools have the chance to provide their fans the ability to enjoy the games when they can't make it.

But it all begins with our next step. Since we are now an independent company, we have to get our own equipment so that we can broadcast the 2013 season. With no equipment, there is no broadcast. We've purchased a mixer and other needed equipment but we still have the need for professional grade broadcasting headsets. Without the headsets, it will be very difficult for us to broadcast this season. While it's part of our bigger effort, our project is to broadcast this football season for Bedford. In order to accomplish that goal, we need to obtain these headsets.

Anything above and beyond our goal will go towards the development of mobile applications for Android, iOS, Windows 8/RT, and Windows Phone. Given the ever increasing use of mobile applications, it's important that we develop these so our listeners can use the devices that they're carrying around with them regularly instead of being tied to their computers.

We've very excited about what we're trying to accomplish with our company and with this first season. We hope that you will join us in our efforts.

Risks and challenges

Given that we've been doing this for as long as we have, we've become familiar with all of the road blocks that can come up. We've had to deal with going to sites where there's no power for us (we've brought a power supply to keep us going) or no space for us (We've broadcasted from the roof of the pressbox before). We've had equipment not function when we get to the site. (between our engineer in our studio and our on site technician, we've been able to overcome just about every technical difficulty, sometimes in rather "MacGyver" type ways). Since we are now using our own equipment as opposed to the equipment that we had when we were volunteering, we've taken the time to field test it and it works great. We've built documentation that's available to our entire team so anyone with a smartphone can access it and deal with any technical issues that may come up. In the case one of our broadcasters can't make it due to health reasons or anything else beyond their control, we have developed backup plans as well.
The big remaining potential issue has been dealt with. We've contacted all of the schools that we'll be going to for a broadcast and have reserved accomodations for our team. Some broadcasts will require a bit of creative work on our end, but it's nothing we haven't dealt with already.
