****NEW STRETCH GOAL £15,000***
Please help us to reach our new stretch goal so that we can improve the film's special effects shots! Several stylistic choices have been made currently to make the film feasible at a certain budget level however if we can hit our new target we can promise more realistic looking body parts!
Our wonderful SFX girl Jen Nelson has been crying since we made the decision but you can put a smile back on her face by contining to support the movie! Check out some of her fantastic work at maximalfx.com
A Sweeney Todd inspired thriller set in a British Kebab Shop plagued by binge drinking culture. After the authorities fail to bring to justice the drunken customers responsible for the death of his father, Kebab Shop Owner Salar begins the dark and lonely descent into the world of vigilantism. After a fight with a disrespectful customer goes wrong, Salar finds himself needing to dispose of a dead body and turns to the one place he knows best…the kebabs. Witnessing his unsuspecting customers wolfing down the new recipe, Salar quickly realises his opportunity to further escalate the fight against the drunks and launches into a killing spree against those he deems punishable.
Ziad is an incredible emerging talent and has starred in several feature films including Island, Shemata and the soon to be released Ridley Scott movie Exodus.
Darren has starred in a number of successful British feature films including Dog Soldiers, Doomsday and recently featured in the BBC's high-end drama series Atlantis.
Made famous by his dead pan expressions and explosive one liners as Keith in the office, Ewen has had great success as a stand up comedian.
Lucinda is a prolifically brilliant actress on the British independent feature film scene having starred in over 20 movies and TV series' including Dream Team.
As independent British filmmakers, we have set out to try and make a film that delivers a clear message about the state of British binge drinking culture by adapting and modernising the age old story of Sweeney Todd. Set in our home town of Bournemouth, the film will paint a picture of the typically unsavory environment that can be found in our town and city centres up and down the country every night of the week!
With a dark comedic underbelly, fused with a dash of slasher horror, the film will aim to both entertain and provoke thought on society's unhealthy reliance on alcohol as a means of releasing pressure.
Currently we have in place:
- A fantastic script which has received great acclaim from within the industry;
- A great track record producing award-winning films;
- A successful team of film makers creating award-winning digital content for brands around the world including Mizuno and Garmin;
- Support from the BFI Film Academy helping to inspire young filmmakers.
WHAT WILL THE MONEY GO ON?
Producing a film in the UK is financially challenging and therefore we need your help to generate additional funding to secure and design the film's two main locations in the kebab shop and its seedy basement.
Every additional pound we can generate between now and the beginning of principle photography (commencing 3rd Feb 2014) will be invested in improving the authenticity of Salar's kebab shop. We intend to generate enough to build a fully functioning space complete with table booths, fryers, a salad counter and of course our hypnotic kebab grills that will ensure the environment of the film is an utterly familiar and believable one.
Building our shop from scratch is necessary due to the complications of shooting in an existing licensed premises. Most active shops in the UK are run on extremely tight margins and as result cannot lend enough time to us to facilitate large scale disruptive film making on enough consecutive nights of the week.
With £10,000 we can really bring the bleak and grimy world of K-SHOP to life, thus ensuring our audience focuses on the film's message about the impact of excessive alcohol consumption and not on its below-par production values. If we are fortunate enough to reach this target and generate really significant interest in the project then we plan to stretch this goal to £20,000 which will subsequently be invested in the film's special effects and camera budget to give the film an even stronger cinematic look and feel.
Only with your help can we make K-SHOP the cinematic hit it has the genuine potential to be! We have put together a great range of rewards to help make your decision easier and to thank you for your kind support. Risks and challenges
K-SHOP is fortunate to already have a large part of it's small production budget secured through private investment and support from the BFI Film academy however the films success lies in it's attention to detail, only achievable through additional financial support.
As ambitious film makers our intention has always been to get this film and it's message in front of as large an audience as possible and as such we have developed a script that fuses popular genres to appeal to a broad range of film goers. Of course, we have had to consider a financial limitations at every stage of the project to date and as a result we have developed a film set largely within two main locations making it highly feasible and cost effective to produce on a small budget.
With the majority of our crew signed up and committed to 5 weeks principle photography commencing 3rd Feb, the film is guaranteed to be made in a capacity however with this last wave of additional financial support we will undoubtedly be able to make a truly exceptional piece of engaging cinema.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
