About this project
We made it! Within 13 days Dan of the Dead hit it's full funding target!! Thank you so much for everyone who has helped get us here and thank you too for coming to take a look at the project even if you didn't back :)
We want to make a documentary/featurette of the animation process from birth to completion and also tell the story of us and our successful Kickstarter campaign. Any extra money now raised over target will be used to help make that to coincide with the release of the short as a kind of double-feature. You can grab the film and doc on the £10 reward tier! More information can be found in update #6 in the updates section.
Thanks again everyone!

We love Zombies! We love Stop Motion!
Zombies! Everyone likes Zombies! Well... not if they were real, then there'd be a real shift on the old Zombie love.
"I used to love zombies, then they broke my windows, cost me a fortune"
And Stop Motion! Everyone likes stop motion! The process of creation is fascinating enough, move a bit, click, move a bit, click, and you can create worlds and madness beyond your imagination!
So if you combined the two...........
Well we love Zombies, and we love Stop Motion! We? Oh of course, excuse me, it's Pete and Andy, creators of the Kickstarter project to get Dan of the Dead into your viewing holes!
But what is Dan of the Dead?
Dan of the Dead is a stop-motion animated short film about a drunk mans struggle through the Zombie Apackofcrips, wait, Afrolisp, no, errm, Zombie FishandChips? Dan loses his girlfriend and turns to Whiskey to help him survive the onslaught of the zombie hordes. Will he find a cure? Will he survive till sunrise? And where will he find a full english to stem the inevitable hangover to end all hangovers? Dan of the Dead is purely for adults so expect mad behaviour and jokes that are not Paranorman friendly.
What is it going to be?
One day we want Dan of the Dead to be a full blown feature film or 6 part T.V series, but we know that takes a lot of time and money. A lot and lot of time and money. Soo much time and money! You get the picture! So right now we want to create a 5 minute short that we can screen in short film festivals in the UK and further afield to gather interest and ultimately get the ball rolling. We want to get the short completed ASAP and then get into screenings by the latter quarter of this year! We want this short to reflect the tone of what we want the film/series to be and to also include as much animated gore as we possibly can! Stop-motion is a painstaking process, but we are adamant this is the right way to get our story across! The short finds Dan taking a break in a London Underground Toilet. Of course, Dan doesn't really get the break he is looking for....
And who are you? Why should I care?
Ok. Lets be serious for about 20 seconds.
Dan of the Dead is the Brain Child of Pete Ellis. Pete has been working on the project for the past year in his spare time filming and designing when he can between other work for his Animation Business Scope Animation. Pete's passion is Animation and he has been creating since the age of 12! He wanted to turn his passion for Animation and a love of the Zombie Horror genre together to create a fresh and funny film for Adults. Pete recently completed a training course with Chapman Animation producers of the TV show Rory the Racing Car.
Over many a few pints looking over the sunny vistas of Manchester, Pete brought on board his friend Andy Kilroy to take a fresh look at the project. Pete and Andy first met whilst working at the Manchester Opera House and quickly found out they shared a common interest in awful fims and especially bad American TV shows. Andy get's scared at most Horror films and can usually be found cowering in the corner of a cinema with a hood pulled over his face to block out "the scary teeth". Andy is the numbers man and will be found face deep in a spreadsheet for the duration of the project but will also be on hand as a production assistant to help Pete with any tricky shots and make cups of tea.
We also have master crafter and builder Darren Longthorne, whose model work can be spotted all over the film and TV world from "Clash of the Titans" to "Shameless". He also re-designed and sculpted the Brit Award. and Darren will be creating our Zombies and we will be following the build process very closely in our photo/video updates. Check out a video about Darren here!
So where are you up-to now and what are my hard earned pennies gonna get you?
At present we are about 1/3 of the way through the short, and this is where you come in! We want to finish the short by the end of October and be able to screen it in film/animation festivals around the country. We need your help to get the equipment and materials we need to complete and the funds to enter into the festivals and publicity for the short itself.
So why should back your project?
Fortune and glory kid! Fortune and glory!
In all honesty, we want you to be part of something we believe will be a success. We're passionate for what we do and have the drive and commitment to deliver this project to a horrifically high standard!
Its going to be a fun journey and your going to get to see every step, warts and all. We want you to be involved and tell us when we're going wrong. With your help, we can get interest in our short with the potential of turning this into a full length feature film or TV series. Who knows, if things go well we may have to get another Kickstarter started for the next chapter in our Journey.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and thanks in advance for your generous donation!
Remember! Aim for the HEAD!!!

Risks and challenges
We are confident we can get the short completed in the time scale we have set. Without your backing we are going to be looking at mid next year, so we know the project will always be completed but we need your help to get it done now and out into the world where it belongs.
We know there may be setbacks, equipment failures, arguments, tantrums, fisticuffs, but we are confident coming from our present work backgrounds we have the knowledge and gumption to get this done, and ultimately to offer you the high quality short you deserve from your backing!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
