Frequently Asked Questions
So far, I've raised $3,620, but Kickstarter is an all or nothing system. Unless I reach my full goal I will not get to keep previous donations. I understand that $43,505 may seem like a large sum, but please consider how that money will be used:
•professional lighting, rigging and sound recording and mixing equipment
•materials to create props and puppets to support to each episode's theme
•building materials for a modular, in-home studio
•hand-crafted large- and small-scale set design
A portion of the funding covers the equivalent of one part-time ECE teacher's annual salary as I research, write, test, produce, host and facilitate the community discussions around each of the 22 episodes over the course of the year. As an expert in my field, with the concentration of efforts and energy that goes into this level of production for even a single episode, I believe it is important to value that contribution, as it is the core of this entire endeavor.
For comparison's sake, just one episode of Sesame Street costs close to 1 million dollars to produce.
Once initial funding is in place, I will no longer need to ask for additional money to produce ongoing content beyond the initial 22 episodes and corresponding 22 “parent/teacher” video conferences. I will not charge families to view and interact with my program. There will be no subscriptions or fees, although at one point we may offer an optional donation button for those who wish to support the production of future episodes.
What I am creating will be so much more than just another kid's show. Thanks so much for your time and consideration.
