Last Time, On Liederboard...
Do you remember backing a digital music composition tool? Really, you did -- it was awesome! You made it a successfully-backed project back in 2012, so now it's always available to backers from a Google Drive folder or to the public at the liederboard website.
Now, it's August, 2013, and an indirect -- but very exciting -- development has occurred...
Enter, the Lootsie!
The Lootsie service offers developers an achievement-based monetization system so that video games get a myriad of benefits. Game devs don't have to sell out their screen space to banner ads anymore, nor will they ever need to invest toward an achievements system for their game. Their players get real, free stuff just by playing video games.
What Does That Have To Do With Liederboard?
Lootsie hired me on as one of its first employees and Liederboard has been in the back of my mind since before you backed it. Sure... knocking down all the bowling pins is an achievement today, but what about tomorrow? Perhaps I can make real rewards available to musicians that write their first 4-measures of a song -- maybe $5 gift cards are how future artists are first enticed to create quality, highly-voted songs on Liederboard.
Most importantly: a genuinely positive monetization system finally exists for Liederboard to sustain itself without compromising artists or their works. This lends well to my vision of a one-stop service where musicians can create, enjoy, and sell musical compositions to other musicians, listeners, or performers -- a system liberated from the notoriously exploitative publishing options available today.
Danny, That Sounds Excessively Ideal... but How Can I Help Anyway?
I can understand if you're chuckling at my dream. It's possible, though, if Lootsie continues gaining the momentum we've already seen in a matter of hours. The way you can help is so easy it might make you chuckle a bit longer.
Play video games on your mobile device.
Yes, I'm serious. Here's a list of our partners' free games that you can play immediately! You can even get free stuff from our system. If you do, then Lootsie looks good -- and if Lootsie looks good, we can quickly expand to more platforms like Liederboard's!
