Wow, it's been a long road! I am pleased to say that, other than a few straggling orders that have to be dealt with, we are virtually done with fulfillment. There were a small handful whose orders were returned for some reason or who didn't give the correct address, and I'm waiting on the final tally from the fulfillment center (and answers from a few backers) so that Gamblers Warehouse can reship the remaining orders and send me the remaining goods back to DKG HQ.
For those few of you who ordered art prints, I am still waiting to receive them from Ian. He has been very busy with fulfillment from his previous campaign, Gothik, and with work on his new campaign, Faerie Enchantments. I have expressed to him the urgency of getting the remaining items sent to me, but with everything going on plus a day job and a one-year-old, sometimes things get forgotten. Hopefully he has already shipped the prints and now I'm just waiting to receive them from England (which can take a little time).
I also wanted to let you know that we finally were able to launch our new fantasy card game Tavern Masters, which I've talked about in the past. The art is being done by the amazing Galen Ihlenfeldt, and is done up to harken back to the olden days of fantasy role-playing.
and here's one of the special promo cards you can get from pledging on the Kickstarter:
The Kickstarter campaign has another one of my fun little videos we did up for the campaign, hopefully as entertaining as the past ones (and, of course, as cheesy as yours truly could manage). The game itself is a blast! We also have a How To Play video posted, as well as a time-lapse video of Galen creating the art for the Pit Fighter (one of the Patron cards). We've been playing Tavern Masters for years now, and I'm just so glad that we finally get to share it with you! Check it out here!
Ihope you are all enjoying your pledge rewards! If you have any issues or concerns that you haven't already made me aware of, please message me here on Kickstarter or at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will work to come up with a solution!
Thanks again for being part of the DKG team! I'm so glad that we are finally able to move forward to bring you more new and exciting games! Have an awesome week, and be sure to go check out the new campaign, even if it's just to watch my silly video! :)
I am happy to announce that fulfillment for our NEW Bicycle Cthulhu Decks campaign is nearly complete! It’s been a bit of a longer process than expected, mostly from waiting for a few final items to be shipped in to the fulfillment center. We had to send in some more dice and cufflinks, so there were a few orders still waiting on those that should be shipping out this coming week.
We are still waiting on the fine art prints and Cthulhu sketches to arrive from England (Ian has been busy with fulfillment for his own Gothik campaign), but those are being shipped out from here at DKG Headquarters, so they shouldn’t have held up any fulfillment shipments.
The final item remaining for completing fulfillment for this campaign is the manufacturing of the Arkham Nights decks. As I’ve mentioned in previous updates, the substantial cost of manufacturing these decks in a short run compared to the small number that were initially pledged for has made this a very difficult issue to tackle.
The $15 pledged for each copy is barely enough to cover the cost of manufacturing each deck for such a small order, and the price of shipping has increased substantially since that time. That money, of course, was sadly used up trying to get the rest of the items manufactured and shipped in 2014.
Even after finally being able to raise some capital to finish fulfillment, it still took most of the funds to get everything else shipped out to all of you, including backers who pledged for Arkham Nights.
Currently, there are just enough funds to get the necessary decks manufactured, but it will take virtually every penny I have left.
I could try to run another Kickstarter campaign to garner more backers for Arkham Nights, but there are no guarantees that this would bring in enough pledges and funds to order a substantially greater number of decks to reduce the individual manufacturing costs, in hopes of raising any additional funds to cover shipping for previous backers. This would also take much longer for each of you to get your decks, with no guarantee of any better situation in the end, not to mention the 10% off the top that Kickstarter takes out, and the further 30% that needs to be set back for taxes as it would count as further income.
In the end, there is simply no feasible or practical way to try to cover both manufacturing and shipping of the Arkham Nights decks.
After considering the best course of action to deal with Arkham Nights over many, many sleepless nights, I am left with only one possible real-world solution, which I hope will be agreeable to those few of you who pledged for a copy.
I will use all of my remaining funds to manufacture the needed copies of Arkham Nights. Any backers who pledged for a copy of Arkham Nights during the Bicycle deck campaign can contact me to get a special code for our new online store which will discount the price of the deck, leaving only the shipping costs for them to cover. In addition, those initial backers will receive one of our Unnameable Horrors Bicycle decks and a Tribal Tentacle wristband as my way of making up for them having to cover the cost of shipping.
This means that for their $15 original pledge, they will be receiving a copy of Arkham Nights which retails for $22.99, plus a copy of the Unnameable Horrors Bicycle deck ($12.99 retail) and a cool Tribal Tentacle wristband ($2.99 retail), a total value of almost $39 for their initial $15 pledge (which they already paid), plus the cost of shipping. In addition, each copy of Arkham Nights will also come with 5 special promo cards:
Joe Sargent (new Madman, exclusive Retailer promo)
Haunter Of The Dark (new Monster, exclusive DKG Online Store promo)
The Horror In Clay (new Relic, exclusive Distributor promo)
Erich Zann (new Madman, exclusive Convention promo)
Joe Slater (new Madman, exclusive DKG Members Club promo)
I can only hope that these extras will help make up for the additional shipping cost for those backers who pledged for Arkham Nights. I had a few copies printed by our manufacturer to test the final quality, and I have to say that the quality is excellent, as you can see in the photos above.
Arkham Nights Pre-Order Event
For those of you who didn’t have a chance to pledge for your own copy of Arkham Nights, we will be running a Pre-Order Event on our Online Store from now through Sunday, August 21st, 2016.
Copies of Arkham Nights will be on sale for $19.99 through the Pre-Order Event, and each copy will also come with the 5 special promo cards (although they will not come with the Bicycle deck or the bracelet).
There is also a Grand Opening Storewide sale of 10% of all of our other in-stock items.
I will place the order for the decks on that following Monday, August 22nd, and they should take around 2-3 weeks to arrive. Once they arrive, they will be shipped out quickly, hopefully ensuring that everyone will receive their copies by late September/early October at the latest, just in time to enjoy their copy of Arkham Nights with their friends and family at this year’s Cthulhuween/Halloween parties and Harvest festivals.
For brick & mortar retailers, wholesale pricing is available in bulk. You can contact us about wholesale pricing at: email@example.com or you can check out our website for more contact info.
On our new site, you can learn more about our games, catch up on the latest DKG news, sign up for our newsletter “The Dagger” or read it online, search our Online Store, read about game rules and any necessary errata, and even chat with us and other DKG fans on our forum. Soon we will also have an online gallery, links for all our Print & Play games, and a place to read my new weekly blog!
Looking To The Future
Making fun games to share with wonderful, interesting people has always been my dream. Getting to do it has been and continues to be a great source of joy and fulfillment in life, no matter the problems we must face from time to time. It has been my privilege to design these items for you all, and I hope that you will continue to watch our progress, as I intend to keep making exciting new games and awesome products for all of us fantasy gamers, book lovers, horror movie buffs, collectors of nostalgia, diehard dreamers, and all around cool people.
We are already looking at doing the second printing of Cthulhu:TGOO so that we have some to share with the rest of the world. From the second edition on, they won’t be Tarot-sized anymore, so be sure to hang on to your 1st editions! They will also have the newer version of the game rules, which are also available here. The newer rules are lots of fun, so be sure to give them a try when you have your own copy!
We are also hard at work on Tavern Masters. We hope to have everything from the initial Arkham Nights print run wrapped by October so that we can move smoothly into the Kickstarter launch of Tavern Masters! Just in time for Oktoberfest! Galen has been hard at work on the art, and we'll have the prototypes printed and off to the vlogger reviewers soon! Galen and I are also excited about a little side project we're getting together to help make your Yuletide season much more jolly! More on that soon!
All in all, that you all for everything you've done to help me be able to make cool stuff for us all to enjoy! I know that things have been rough at times, but you've stuck by me through the worst of it, and I hope that in the end of it you feel rewarded at least by the love and care put into every detail of these games and goodies! I want to make you lasting treasures that you can enjoy again and again throughout your life. We're not just building a company here, we're building a legacy, and each and every one of you are part of that legacy! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
