A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
Five-piece cutlery set: one tea spoon, one regular spoon, one standard knife, one small fork and one regular fork.
What is this campaign?
Hi, my name is Daniel van Dijck. I am a Dutch designer running a design studio in The Hague.
I seek to reinterpret and interrogate everyday objects and our daily practices.
In this project, I want to bring back craftsmanship in a typical industrial product. I am collaborating with an external (specialist) manufacturer to create solid pressed steel cutlery. The handles of the cutlery set are then altered manually in my design studio (The Hague, Netherlands) in a more organic shape.
Cutlery in magazines, blogs, shops, exhibitions and at design fairs
After three years of design work, several different prototypes and working with multiple manufacturers, I am finally happy with the results.

All rewards will be shipped with basic tracking and insurance anywhere in the world.
A special reward just for donating!
I'm giving away 5 cutlery sets! Donate as low as 1 euro and get a chance to win a complete cutlery set! Here's how it will work: you will enter into the drawing by donating 1 euro or more. You get one entry for every euro you give without a reward. So if you donate 1 euro, you get one chance to win; 10 euros gets you ten chances! The more you donate, the better your chances of winning! Everyone who donates will automatically be entered into the drawing, so all you have to do is donate.
If the Kickstarter campaign is successful, I will have a drawing and 5 people will each win a single cutlery set (5 pieces including transportation costs). You can only win once. People who already donated are automatically entered. If the Kickstarter campaign is not successful, you will get your money back.
When does it ship?
I would like to thank my family, friends and everyone who has assisted and encouraged me throughout my journey. Your feedback, support, and motivation have been especially exciting.

I have a lot of experience designing products and coordinating their manufacture since 2014. Also, I have good experience in order management and fulfillment to customers all over the world.
I partnered with an external (specialist) manufacturer who has been part of the development process from the start. The handles will finally be altered manually by my team and me. I already have functional prototypes.
Due to the manufacturing process, the most significant challenge will be delivering on schedule. However, both the manufacturer and I understand and are committed to the time plan and backers will be kept up to date with the latest project developments.
