Viral Films UK and Death Vault Productions presents a Black and White, Action-packed Werewolf Horror short; "WEREHOUSE"
"When a peaceful demonstration turns to violence in the streets, a trio of students seek shelter in a nearby warehouse. But they soon realise it was safer outside when coming face-to-face with the lycanthropic occupant..."
"WEREHOUSE" is a 15min, black and white, short film.
Shot entirely on location in a warehouse near Chelmsford, we will be using mostly practical effects, with as few digital enhancements as possible.
Our aim is to bring you a feature film's worth of action, drama, horror, and spectacle, all packed into 15 minutes of entertainment.
We plan to shoot "WEREHOUSE" in Chelmsford, Essex, UK sometime in late April (During a full moon!). We'll be filming on the Blackmagic URSA Mini 4.6K.
The project is primarily Black and White, because we feel it's extremely powerful and underused in low budget filmmaking. In addition to that, we are using special techniques to isolate the colour Red. This will be reserved for blood and gore (As seen in the below test shot), and items of significance.
The use of black and white will also allow us to greater utilise the play between light and shadow. Keeping things bathed in darkness will give us greater opportunity to build suspense, and keep the shock-factor high. One of our mantras has always been "The unseen is scarier than the seen". And by keeping the Werewolf in the shadows, we can really ramp-up the terror before the big reveal.
Speaking of which, we are working closely with one of the UK's biggest FX companies to construct the Werewolf (At this stage they'd prefer to remain anonymous until the campaign has ended).
Here's a rough idea of what our "Wolf" looks like right now, we will have more images and details as the project advances.
We are hoping to have the film completed and ready for your viewing pleasure in September, and all Rewards shipped by October ready for Halloween.
As well as this, we'll be releasing the film on Amazon Instant Video, with an expected air date of 31st October 2018
Recently we have also been very busy promoting this Campaign and the project.
We've just had a very successful Thunderclap campaign, which should have reached hundreds of thousands of people, and hopefully make it that much easier to hit our goal.
Also, we've received lots of support from sites like PopHorror.com, Bloody-Flicks.co.uk, HorrorFuel.com, The Slaughtered Bird and even Joblo/Arrow in the Head have had a word in helping us get the word out.
We recently held a Live Q&A to answer any questions and to reveal more information on the project.

We are dedicated to honing our skills as film makers, and grasp each new project as chance to show our ability for storytelling. Our first short film, "RUN", was very much a "proof-of-concept" piece. It was a huge learning experience for us, and at the time felt like an impossible challenge. From late night shoots, exterior lighting, make-up and VFX, it was incredibly hard work. Yet we managed it.
Looking back, it's clear to see how far we've come in our craft, but that doesn't make us any less proud of what we achieved on "RUN". Especially as we had virtually no budget.

"For Her..." was completely different to "RUN" in every way.
Focussing on story over spectacle, we created something truly unique. A romantic drama, that unexpectedly and violently twisted into a horror. The problem with this; we couldn't tell anyone what it was about, as that would give away the twist! And because of this, we failed to get full funding for the project.
That didn't stop us, though, and we ended up having the time of our lives while filming. We are extremely happy with the final product, and hope to replicate the experience with all future projects.
Which brings us to now.
Friends of the team had previously offered the use of their warehouse for filming, should we ever need it. It was an amazing opportunity, though we needed the right project to utilise it. So was born "WEREHOUSE".
Growing up, we were huge fans of films like "The Wolf Man", "The Howling", "American Werewolf in London", "Silver Bullet", and "Dog Soldiers". Watching them left us inspired to one day make our own Werewolf movie, and now felt like the right time.
The idea was so simple, we were surprised it hadn't already been done. And with the concept right there in the title, we knew it would be an easy one to sell.
Unsurprisingly, when you put a Werewolf in a Warehouse, the script practically writes itself. Where we've tried to push things is with the characterisation and dramatic aspects.
We like to mix genres and themes when writing our stories, and when trying to find something that would compliment our idea, we remembered "Green Room". Being trapped, and looking for a means to escape, fit right in with the story we are trying to tell.
Writing a group of diverse, interesting and believable characters, then dropping them in to this extraordinary situation, we hope to create a truly memorable cinematic experience. Mixing quiet moments to build tension, with adrenaline-fuelled action setpieces.
For "WEREHOUSE" we have painstakingly reviewed hundreds of potential actors and actresses for the various roles. We are very proud to announce the incredible talents we have involved in front of the camera:
Firstly we have the extremely talented Amy Tyger ("Legacy" 2015, "Brawl" 2018) playing the part of "Lucy", the determined, headstrong and intelligent 21-year-old University Student. Amy displayed all the characteristics we looked for in the character of Lucy, and after seeing her audition it was hard to imagine anyone else in that role.
Next up we have Harriet Rees ("Cabin 28" 2017, "Revenge of Robert the Doll" 2018) as "Connie", a smart, hardworking, but socially awkward 20-year-old University Student. The part of Connie was never going to be an easy one to cast, but Harriet proved she's more than up to the challenge. She's an incredible talent and we are very lucky to have her on this shoot.
Oliver Roy's audition left no doubt in our minds that he was the right person to play "Gaz", the easily excitable 21-year-old fellow Student of Lucy and Connie. He tries to hide his insecurities with bravado. Again the role of Gaz was a tricky one to cast. The character is partly responsible for the situation that our trio find themselves in, but at the same time he needs to be likeable. This deeply flawed character has his heart in the right place and Oliver's interpretation of Gaz was spot on.
Returning to work with us again is "For Her..." star Derek Nelson ("For Her..." 2017. "Werewolves of the Third Reich" 2017) in the role of David, the warehouse worker who just so happens to be a Werewolf. His wealth of experience and infectious personality make him an absolute joy to work with. And it's great to have him back with us again.http://www.imdb.com/name/nm6979445

Daniel Mark Young - Director/Producer ("Run" 2016, "For Her..." 2017)
Co-Founder of Viral Films UK, Daniel is our team's very own renaissance man! As well as Directing and Producing, he also edits and sound-mixes all our material. Always giving 110%, he's responsible for our films looking and sounding the absolute best they can be.
Daniel is also appearing in the upcoming Documentary from Bloody Flicks "For the love of the Boogeyman: 40 Years of Halloween"(2018) Due out this coming october
James Craigie - Writer/Producer ("Run" 2016, "For Her..." 2017)
Also a Co-Founder of Viral Films UK, James is responsible for turning all our ideas into working screenplays. Being a Producer allows him more hands-on experience than most Writers. This has been extremely useful to the team, as he's always there whenever a last-minute change is needed on-the-fly.
Michelle Craigie - Cinematographer/Producer ("Run" 2016, "For Her..." 2017)
The final Co-Founder of our team, and jointly responsible for the look of our films, Michelle is also instrumental in keeping everything moving on set. Always willing to step in where needed, and making everyone as comfortable as possible. She also puts her talent for photography to use behind the scenes, cataloging the filming process.
Darrell Pringle - Camera Assistant ("For Her..." 2017)
Joining us again after his amazing work on "For Her...", which we wouldn't have been able to complete without his expertise behind the camera. Alway ready with fresh ideas, and new perspectives, Darrell has become an invaluable asset to the team as a whole.
Kitty Noofah - Make up FX artist
Kitty is a new addition to our team for this project, she is a very successful make up artist and beauty blogger.
Adam Woodhams - Composer ("Run" 2016, "For Her..." 2017)
Adam is returning as composer for "WEREHOUSE". We are always excited to be working with such a talented musician who's experimental approach always yields the best accompaniment for our films.
We've already secured the Camera and Lighting budget, as well as the location. But, as anyone who's made a film knows full well, they aren't cheap. Especially as this is a Werewolf film, with lots of practical effects.
- Wolf Creation (£2000) this equates to 45% of our budget we are getting a very high movie quality werewolf suit for this extremely good price - this also includes technician fees.
- Actor's Fees (£720) We like to keep our talent happy.
- Post Production (£500) This covers sound mix, colouring and some visual FX work.
- Clothing (£250) The script requires some particular items of clothing and we are planning to get our actors very bloody, so this is an important expense.
- Catering (£225) People gotta eat.
- Props (£200) This will go towards certain items that are essential to the story.
- Make up FX (£200) Appliances and Gory fun.
- Travel Expenses (£400) This covers expenses for everyone to get to set and accommodation costs.
As you can see almost half our budget is dedicated to having a practical creature. We wanted the wolf to look at best it could whilst still trying to maintain a realistic budget. Considering we have already invested money into Camera, Lenses and Lights, this is still a very reasonable budget for this type of production.
With our previous projects, we managed to scrape by with very minimal funding. What we lacked in money, we made up for with ingenuity and determination. However, on a project of this scale, that is not a feasible option.
What we present to you is the barest minimum of what we require to get this short film shot. This is all-or-nothing for us. If we don't reach target, we'll need to postpone production and assess how to move forward.
Likewise, any extra money we earn will not be wasted frivolously. Every penny will go into making sure "WEREHOUSE" is the absolute best Short Film it can be.

Any physical items require additional shipping costs, while we try our best to keep these costs low we also want your rewards to get to you safely and in one piece. Once shipped you will receive an email with delivery details, most international orders are delivered between 7-10 days.

Our Blu Rays and DVDs are duplicated by ourselves in house to make sure the cost is kept down and that we have full control over the final product. All discs are burnt to High Grade BD-R and DVD-R discs and are QA tested before packing and shipping. Please make sure your player is capable of reading BD-R and DVD-R disc.
Our Digital Releases are Generally .m4v and .mp4 iTunes/iPhone/Apple TV compatible 1080p encodes made from the original master. Dolby 5.1 audio will be present where available as well as a 2.0 AAC mix in the same file.
Extras like "Making Of's", "Out-takes", "Trailers" and "Interviews" are usually included but depends on how much content was generated at the time of production.
All files are compatible with VLC
This is the first time we are doing a Vinyl Soundtrack release, these are extremely Limited and only the Co-Producer rewards contains this. We are only having a small run of about 5 or 6 of these made up, mainly for Crew etc. The end product will be a One sided 10 inch Picture Disc with roughly 10 minutes of music on it. These are being produced by a separate company therefore we have very little control over the final product, but as we are lead to believe these are an amazing product and should sound great as they will be cut from the original uncompressed studio master.
Unfortunately all T-shirts are in XL size only as this is the only size we currently have in stock.
In addition to all the awesome rewards we have, we are introducing a series of stretch goals, depending on how much you pledge to our campaign you could be entitled to lots of extras if we hit and exceed our campaign target.
If we hit our target the first Tier is unlocked and everyone eligible for that reward will have it added to their list of goodies. With any extra campaign money we plan to make the project bigger and better, our post production and sound mix budget will see an increase and we will have extra money to enter the film into festivals and shoot extra footage for the BluRay/DVD release.
Risks and challenges
As with any film project (crowdfunded or otherwise) there are always risks and challenges.
We've managed to make several short films over the last 3 years and faced our fair share of issues and setbacks, but we have always pulled through and managed to produce a quality product that people are happy with. We always deliver on the promises that we set out in our original crowdfunding campaigns.
This is a pure passion project for us, something we have wanted to do for a very long time and we are so excited that we finally get to do it (with your help of course).
Obviously there are risks involved, e.g. What if an Actor/Actress/Crew Member pulls out of the production?
In this case we would delay the shoot until we had recast/Re-hired and keep you all up to date so that you know what's going on at all times and try our best to make our promised shipping/release dates.
We are a hugely determined group who are always problem solving on the job, and it's safe to say that we are adamant to get this project off the ground and onto your screens!
