Welcome to the final Monday Update here on kickstarter.com!
Yes, it's done! After 5 months of development, the Wormworld Saga App has finally arrived. I'm not even able to fully comprehend this right at the moment. It's just a weird thing to work towards a certain goal over such a long time and then, just by the matter of a button click, you launch something into the internet and let it run free. I remember this feeling from the launch of the first chapter but I think I'll never get used to it.
But this single click marks the point of an extraordinary achievement. Through your support, a single independent creator was able to lay the groundwork for his future. I have high hopes for the tablet as a platform for comics and graphic novels. And with the announcement of the Amazon Fire a few days ago - a color tablet that will cost only $200 - my hopes have even increased. My hope is to fully refinance my work on the Wormworld Saga through app sales. That way I would stay independent and could make sure that the Wormworld Saga is told the way it's meant to be told. It's still a long way up to this point of course. We launched the app into a universe of apps and it will take some time to get noticed. But the most important requirement for this plan to succeed is met: the app is there and the journey has just begun!
You find the app inside the iTunes App Store by simply performing a search for "Wormworld" or you can use this link here:
Please note, that the app isn't launched worldwide yet. We found a nasty bug that would spoil your experience of the app if you are living in a country where American English, Spanish, German or French is not the standard language. Therefore we only launched in countries where this is the case. All other countries (including UK) will have to wait another few days until a fixed version is approved by apple.
If you should experience the "black screen of death", because you have the app installed but your iPad is not set to one of the four languages, you can fix this by simply going into the settings inside the app and chosing one of the languages available there. The bug currently is that none of these four languages is selected by default and you'll see only a black screen if you open Chapter 1 on an iPad that has a language setting different from the four languages available inside the app.
BTW, you would directly support the success of the app by giving it a rating or writing a review inside the iTunes App Store.
Ok, that's is for now. I still have some work to do on the kickstarter campaign (the top tier backers are still waiting for their watercolors and I received some packages back that didn't reach their destinations) but to clarify these issues I will contact the involved backers directly. This was the last regular Monday Update. I invite you all to follow the further progress of the Wormworld Saga project via my blog or via the news feed inside the Wormworld Saga App.
I will check back here from time to time. The Android version of the app is currently under development and I'll announce the launch here. And I guess there might be other interesting stuff for you backers, too.
Oh, and check out the credits inside the app! You are all there! :)
Man, I hate saying good bye...
