We’re going to try to keep this concise. Making art costs money.
As an independent band, we are grateful for the creative freedom that our independence affords us. However over the past year, the revelation dawned on us... THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN INDEPENDENT BAND!
Or, if there is, that’s not us. Though we are not dependent on a label or on certain aspects of the music industry, we are entirely dependent on the help and support of you, our loyal listeners, to do what we do.
So, with the album underway, we are asking you, our fans and friends, to help us bring it across the finish line so that it can be enjoyed by you, it’s intended recipients.
We have curated a collection of special Lowland Hum swag and experiences for you, the heroic patrons. In addition to helping us and getting cool stuff, we will send you exclusive updates all along the way so you can have a window into what you are helping make possible. We will reveal more specifics on each reward item as designs are finalized.
So you don't have to wait until next year, we wanted to share the first single, "Salzburg Summer," off our new record. This song is in part an exploration of vanity, youthful frivolity, and femininity as it was internalized by Lauren's pre-teen mind. We were taken with the beauty of Salzburg when we were on tour in Austria last December. It seemed like the perfect setting for exploring these themes.
We have been overwhelmed by your support over the years. To us, connection to you is one of the greatest rewards of staying an independent band. Thank you for being a part of our lives and letting us be a part of yours.
Oh yeah, and if you made it this far and have no former connection to us or our music, we are Lowland Hum, a husband and wife art-folk duo. We are based in Charlottesville, Virginia and we travel all over taking part in nightly collaborations of sound and presence (aka concerts) with whoever comes out.
There are no puppets in our band and they do not make regular appearances at our concerts or in our videos. At least for now...

Risks and challenges
We recognize that you, our supporters, are taking a risk by investing in unreleased music, and we do not take that for granted. We are grateful for this community of quiet music lovers and have been working for months to create the next iteration of the Lowland Hum sound. While it is a vulnerable and risky thing to ask for help, our goal in doing so is that you will ultimately connect with this new record on an even deeper level and that your upfront risk will pay off for years to come.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
