Line of Ruin is a story I've been working on for a long time. The story has shifted a fair amount over the years and I'm so excited about what it has become! I'm even more excited to see it finally coming to life in the pages of this graphic novel!
I grew up enjoying comics, manga, cartoons, etc., and now I'm excited to share my love for them with my children. My goal in telling this story is to create a graphic novel that's both appropriate and compelling for boys and girls of all ages.
On this project I've taken a lot of influence from my love for "Labyrinth" and "Jim Henson's - The Storyteller". The atmosphere in these were a huge influence on my tastes growing up and I hope to recapture that feeling in the world I'm creating.
Family is something everyone can relate to in one way or another and through the course of this series I want to explore the beauty and reality of multiple family types.
Line of Ruin will feature original art from the following artists. Check out the rewards for details on prints and originals!
(The book will be in full color but the story will be told through a strategically chosen limited color palette.)
Risks and challenges
This is my first SOLO Kickstarter project so I'm anticipating a learning experience, but I'm also the illustrator on a previously successful Kickstarter so I have experience participating in that from production, to campaign, to reward fulfillment.
The comic is well on its way. At the time this Kickstarter launched it was completely written, about 50% drawn, and 30% colored. I've done all my research on printers for the book as well as the rewards. They are picked out and ready to go as soon as the book is finished.
I'm a well organized person with years of experience in meeting production deadlines. There is still a lot to be done but I've laid out a timeline for the production of the book leaving myself a little wiggle room for life's twists and turns.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
