About this project
We are a filmmaking-writing duo and this is our second project together. Our first was a documentary about a young religious emissary couple living in Portugal, which is currently in the editing room. (To watch some of Daniel's past work, see below.)
THIGH centers on Naomi, a woman in her late 20s who is studying the art of Japanese Tea Ceremony - a rigorously choreographed ritual.
Entering into her monastic space is Mike, a shy giant, whose sheer physical presence, particularly his thighs, rattles the controlled mood and clean lines of Naomi's world.
Naomi must choose between her practice and the implications of this new found passion.
The production has secured a beautiful beach house in Rockaway, New York, where we'll be constructing the set, which will include a Chashitsu, or tea ceremony room, a boxing gym, and a traditional Roji garden in the backyard.
On board are a group of talented artists to get these huge ideas off the page and onto the big screen.
WHAT WE NEED NOW
Too often today in Indie film making, we see projects that lack in adequate production design. With THIGH, we're seeking to make a film the old-fashioned way, with immense care and consideration put into every element of the set, costumes and art design.
Our main expense is material for the set, in order to build shoji screen walls, lay down tatami mat flooring, fill the space with traditional tools and lighting, and transform an ordinary backyard into something absolutely magical!
We'll be shooting the film on high-end HD video equipment and a number of sequences will be shot using a film-grade steadicam system, which the director, Daniel, operates professionally.
By partnering with us, you are supporting the craft of landscape artists, sculptors, costume designers, filmmakers and actors. You are simply, making it all happen! You are bringing many hours of labor and love to a stunning completion.
