BLOODWORTH Welcomes Camilla d'Errico to the Team!
Welcome to our Kickstarter for BLOODWORTH Issue #3, featuring cover art by superstar Pop Surrealist Camilla d'Errico!
In the near future, people can upload their memories as a form of social networking, called "Thoughtshare." Special Agent Brenda Bloodworth leads an FBI task force that can enter the memories that people don't want to share, in order to solve crimes.
When Bloodworth falsely turns up in a memory that frames her for murder, she must leap the Chain of Thoughts that will lead her to a conspiracy that threatens to control minds on a worldwide scale.
We have now entered the THIRD chapter of the story, and Agent Bloodworth is in more trouble than ever!
WHY WE'RE HERE
Our goal here on Kickstarter is to raise $3,800 to pay for the production costs of Issue #3 of our eventual 4-issue BLOODWORTH miniseries.
WHO WE ARE
My name is Daniel Corey, and I am the author of this little campaign. I'm very happy to be here on Kickstarter, working with some of the best crowdfunding backers in the world. That's right, I am talking about YOU.
A little about me: I write comics. I've released a few books with Image Comics: MORIARTY and RED CITY. I've produced two books through my own company, DangerKatt Creative Studio: DANGERKATT'S PROPHET, and BLOODWORTH.
Artist Chris Fenoglio and letterer/designer Dave Lanphear are my main compadres on this adventure. Chris worked with me on RED CITY at Image Comics, and is also known for his work on IDW's ORPHAN BLACK and X-FILES: ORIGINS.
Dave is a seasoned professional that has worked for every publisher that has EVER EXISTED, and his most notable achievements include Archaia's RETURN OF THE DAPPER MEN with Janet Lee and Jim McCann, and his Eisner nominations for his work on Marvel's SECRET AVENGERS and Valiant's DIVINITY.
And we're very happy to welcome Camilla d'Errico to the Bloodworth team! Camilla is a world-famous Pop Surrealist painter, and has published too many comics, art books, and instructional books to list here (so go check out her RESUME), and has exhibited in art galleries all over the world. Camilla has drawn the cover for BLOODWORTH Issue #3, and we couldn't be happier to have her on board!
Camilla will be SIGNING COLOR PRINTS of her cover for backers! Also, we are offering Camilla's ORIGINAL GRAPHITE DRAWING as a reward! See our rewards, to the right!
Here's a scan of Camilla's original drawing...
ALL THREE ISSUES ARE AVAILABLE HERE!
- If you missed the BLOODWORTH Issues #1 and #2 Kickstarters, do not fear! You can get Issues #1 and #2 through this campaign, in addition to Issue #3. So, basically, you're all out of excuses.
- The story we are creating is 4 issues in length, but right now, we are just raising money for the production of Issue #3. We plan on coming back to KS over the next several months to finish out our miniseries by funding Issue #4, and we're hoping you'll still be along for the ride. The reasons for this are explained in the questions section below.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT BLOODWORTH
Our 12-page BLOODWORTH Issue #0 hit ComiXology on September 16th, 2015. We successfully funded BLOODWORTH Issue #1 on March 31st, 2016, and Issue #2 on October 19th, 2016. Here are some of the critical reviews so far:
"One of the things I love most about Daniel Corey's work is his ability to build an entire world from scratch, with its own social contracts, culture and environment. Dan's universes are so complete that once can truly imagine day-to-day life in his worlds. Bloodworth is not only demonstrative of this, but possibly the best example of it so far.
"If you are a fan of American Flagg, of gumshoe detectives like Mike Hammer, and of good storytelling, you will enjoy Bloodworth. FBI agent Brenda Bloodworth, the hard-drinking and complicated heroine, is troubled with her own demons while solving a string of murders for which she herself may be framed. The first two issues were so good that I found myself disappointed that I could not immediately read issue 3 to find out what happens to Brenda next.
Bursting at the seams with action, intrigue and emotion, Bloodworth rises above the sea of independent comics flooding the marketplace today."

“It’s good fun, and thought-provoking for those who enjoy some modern tech-dystopian drama.” – Stranger Worlds

A FEW QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE
Q: This Kickstarter is titled BLOODWORTH Issue #3, but I don't have Issues #1 or #2. Why should I pledge?
A: If you missed us previously: In addittion to Issue #3, you can also get BLOODWORTH Issues #1 and #2 through this campaign!
Q: Why are you only raising money for one issue, if you have a four-issue miniseries planned?
A: KS campaigns with funding goals under $10,000 have the greatest chance at success. That's why we are doing a total of four Kickstarters to fund this project.
Q: What will you be using the money for?
A: The majority of money raised by this campaign will be used to pay the artists. The artists have to put in many long hours of work: it can take as much as 1-2 days to finish the pencils, inks, colors and letters of 1 page of a comic book. The remaining monies raised will cover the print costs of reward tiers that include print copies.
There are ALL KINDS of amazing things that we can offer. I'll be honest with you: the #1 thing on my stretch goals wish list is BLOODWORTH Issue #4. Folks, we do have a REALLY SMALL funding goal, set at $3,800. If we can double our earnings to a measly $7,600, we can conclude the epic tale of BLOODWORTH right here, in 2017. Something to keep in mind!
What else do I have on tap? All kinda stuff! Some of you may recall that we ran a campaign to fund a Bloodworth Collectible Figure. Well, how would you like a figure based on our Image Comics MORIARTY series? The same Professor Moriarty that is the arch foe of Sherlock Holmes, who graced the pages of our Image Comics series? The same MORIARTY who would become the anti-hero of one of the world's first Virtual Reality comic books?

Some of you may recall that DangerKatt friend and superstar artist Tony Donley created a beautiful Bloodworth pinup for our Issue #1 Kickstarter.
Well, Tony landed a gig on Netflix's SANTA CLARITA DIET, creating original comics and t-shirts for actor Skyler Gisondo's character Eric, and BLOODWORTH got her first major network debut!
Now you can have your very own Tony Donley BLOODWORTH tee, AS SEEN ON TV! (#AlwaysWantedToSayThat)

ISSUE #2 SAMPLE PAGES!!!
Risks and challenges
Please know that EVERYBODY who answered their surveys for the BLOODWORTH Issues #1 and #2 campaigns have received their reward! And we're going to repeat that success again!
The biggest risk in comic production is that you will fall behind and miss deadlines. In the realm of Kickstarter, falling behind or losing pace could mean that people will be left waiting months, a year, or indefinitely for rewards to arrive.
Chris, Dave and I are all pros that deliver on time. Since we are planning to continue fundraising for the rest of the miniseries, we kinda HAVE to be reliable with this campaign, and every subsequent campaign, if we plan to finish our project!
As you may know, a Kickstarter campaign is a very difficult undertaking. I've seen both success and failure here at Kickstarter, and I've learned from from those experiences. With this campaign, I am focused on two things: 1. Meeting our funding goal, 2. Delivering you BLOODWORTH Issue #3 in a timely fashion.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
