In the near future, people can upload their memories as a form of social networking, called "Thoughtshare." Special Agent Brenda Bloodworth leads an FBI task force that can enter the memories that people don't want to share, in order to solve crimes.
When Bloodworth falsely turns up in a memory that frames her for murder, she must leap the Chain of Thoughts that will lead her to a conspiracy that threatens to control minds on a worldwide scale.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT BLOODWORTH
Our 12-page BLOODWORTH Issue #0 hit ComiXology on September 16th, 2015, and here's what people have been saying:
“Daniel Corey’s incredible knack for world-building is on full display in BLOODWORTH. The sights, sounds, and characters are vibrant and intricate, and the story is brimming with possibilities!” – Barbra Dillon, Managing Editor, Fanboy Comics
“It’s good fun, and thought-provoking for those who enjoy some modern tech-dystopian drama.” – Stranger Worlds
"The premise of the book should immediately evoke Total Recall, but in reverse. Instead of fake memories being created for one person’s entertainment, genuine memories are being broadcasted for everybody’s entertainment. More important than the similarity to Total Recall though is the theme of memory and its reliability. [Philip K.] Dick came back over and over again to human memory, its reliability, and how our memories make us human. This comic is doing that too." - Flickering Myth (Read the full review HERE.)

WHO WE ARE
Hello, everyone! Daniel Corey, here. I'm a writer and comic creator. I've done a few books for Image Comics: MORIARTY and RED CITY. I've written a new comic called BLOODWORTH, which is why we're here on Kickstarter. I'm very happy to be here, and very excited to introduce you to Agent Bloodworth!
Joining me on this adventure are artist Chris Fenoglio and letterer/designer Dave Lanphear. Chris worked with me on RED CITY at Image Comics, and is also known for his work on IDW's ORPHAN BLACK series.
Dave is a venerable comics pro that has worked for every publisher under sun, and his most notable achievements include Archaia's RETURN OF THE DAPPER MEN with Janet Lee and Jim McCann, and his Eisner nomination for his work on Marvel's SECRET AVENGERS.
We're also thrilled to have acclaimed artist Darick Robertson as part of our project. Darick is an Eisner-nominated artist who has been in the comics business for more than 20 years, and has hundreds of titles to his credit. He is best known for his work on TRANSMETROPOLITAN and THE BOYS. Darick will be drawing a variant cover for BLOODWORTH Issue #1, which is available in the rewards tiers at the right.
WHY WE'RE HERE
Our goal here on Kickstarter is to raise $4,800 to pay for the production costs of issue #1 of our eventual 4-issue BLOODWORTH miniseries. Please note: the story we are creating is 4 issues in length, but we are just raising money for the first issue right now. We plan on coming back to KS over the course of this year to fund issues 2-4, and we're hoping you'll still be along for the ride. The reasons for this are explained in the questions section below.
A FEW QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE
- Q: Why are you only raising money for the first issue, if you have a four-issue miniseries planned?
- A: To be perfectly honest, KS campaigns with funding goals under $10,000 have the greatest chance at success. That's why we plan on doing four funding campaigns over the course of this year.
- Q: What will you be using the money for?
- A: The majority of money raised by this campaign will be used to pay the artists. The artists have to put in many long hours of work: it can take as much as 1-2 days to finish the pencils, inks, colors and letters of 1 page of a comic book. The remaining monies raised will cover the print costs of reward tiers that include print copies.
- Q: You guys have released books by some really major publishers. Why do you need to do a Kickstarter?
- A: A fair question, for sure. Here's why: honestly, indie comic creators don't often see a profit on their work. Given the great cost of production, printing and distribution, even if your book is successful, returns are usually minimal. More than anything, we're in this for the love of comics and storytelling, and not for making big profits. And that's why we need to raise the money to cover the production costs.
Is it too early to be talking stretch goals? The answer to that question: POSSIBLY. However, I bring it up because I think you guys would love to get even more out of this campaign. There are a lot of things we can do here: there are more BLOODWORTH-related products that we can offer. We have a history of working with Layar, creating Augmented Reality content for BLOODWORTH (What is AR? Basically, blending digital virtual content with print! Check out the article about BLOODWORTH's AR work with the Layar company HERE). This is something we could expand upon, as a stretch goal. Combining AR with our comic could allow you to use your smartphone to immerse yourself in 360-degree comic environments, straight off the page!
Ultimately, we'd love to get two comic issues out of this campaign. The team and I would love to make that happen. So, if you dig what we're doing and choose to pledge, please help spread the word, so we can double our campaign goal and give you more BLOODWORTH!

Risks and challenges
The biggest risk in comic production is that you will fall behind and miss deadlines. In the realm of Kickstarter, falling behind or losing pace could mean that people will be left waiting months, a year, or indefinitely for rewards to arrive.
Chris, Dave and I are all pros that deliver on time. To date, I have never missed a deadline when producing my books for Image Comics. Chris and Dave have similar track records in their work history. PLUS: since we are planning to continue fundraising for the rest of the miniseries, we kinda HAVE to be reliable with this campaign, and every subsequent campaign, if we plan to finish our project!
As you may know, a Kickstarter campaign is a very difficult undertaking. I've seen both success and failure here at Kickstarter, and I've learned from from those experiences. With this campaign, I am focused on two things: 1. Meeting our funding goal 2. Delivering you BLOODWORTH Issue #1 in a timely fashion.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
