Stretch Goal #1! If total pledges reach above $7,000, all backers will receive a PDF version of the graphic novel. Backers at $35 or above will receive a copy of the 62+ page Sevara graphic novel!
Sevara issue #0 is a 22 page full color comic book created by Damian Wampler, drawn by Andre Siregar, colored Anang Setyawan, and lettered by Steve Wands. We've got a great team and a contract with Broken Icon Comics, but we need your help to make issue #0 a reality!
Sevara was a mortal girl, raised in an orphanage with no memory of her parents. A geneticist named Alta found Sevara and took her in, eventually giving her the secrets of immortality and shape-shifting. Together, they guided civilization towards peace. But after centuries of fighting, Alta's immortal warriors vowed to give up their memories and their powers so that humanity can hit the reset button. After a thousand year sleep, all of them keep their promise...except Sevara. Check out this trailer to see more art!
When she awakens, Sevara finds that an evil king used her childhood memories to enslave humanity. Alone in an unrecognizable future earth, Sevara must fight Mitan to re-save her broken world.
In issue #0, Sevara allows herself be captured and taken to the secret mountain fortress of the evil overlord Mitan.
Once in the grip of the mighty Colossus however, Sevara gets more than she bargained for as she is drained of her immortal powers and knocked unconscious.
Half dead and on her way to her execution, Mitan's minions round up the last of Sevara's followers to deliver a final blow to the human resistance.
Sevara is a relevant and timely adventure that reflects the global religious conflict which is tearing apart our planet. Watch this video to learn about the themes of the story.
THE GOAL: $3,000 to produce a 22 page full comic book, available at comic book shops and comic book conventions in 2014. If we end up even $1 short of the goal, we get nothing. Stretch goal: Produce issues 1 and 2 as well. Then, Broken Icon Comics will publish all 3 issues as a graphic novel in 2015. If we make it to $7,000, all backers at the $35 level or higher will get a copy of the graphic novel!
We need your help!

MEET THE TEAM
Writer and Creator Damian Wampler: "I was born and raised across the street from the University of Delaware. My art is inspired by my cultural experiences traveling throughout Central Asia as an English teacher, researcher, and NGO development worker. I studied theater in college and wrote and produced my play, Twin Towers, in New York City in 2009, but when family life and overseas living made producing my next play Sevara impossible, I rewrote it as a comic book script and started searching for an artist and a publisher. Many years latter, here I am with the incredible talents of Andre Siregar and Anang Setyawan, and the generous support of Broken Icon Comics."
Line Artist Andre Siregar: "I grew up in Bojonegoro, a small city in East Java, Indonesia. My parents were doctors, but my mom also loved handicrafts. She introduced me to drawing, but living in a doctor family I never even thought of doing comics seriously. I went to college in Surabaya, where I met my wife, got married, and am raising 2 cute kids. After our marriage I opened a comic shop, selling American comics from Marvel, DC, and others. One day a local comic artist visited my shop and told me that making comics is a hundred times better than selling them. In 2009 Indonesian economy collapsed and I shut my shop. I picked up my pencil and started to learn to make comics from the scratch. It has been my job and my passion since then."
Colorist Anang Setyawan: "I was born in Temanggung, small village in the central Java Province of Indonesia. I grew up in Sumatera as the first child of a middle class family. I graduated from vocational high school and started working for a jewelry company, but I soon realized that it was the wrong place for me (this is a true story!). I quit my job to follow my dream in visual art and soon joined Papilon Studio and later House Of Imagi Studio in Semarang, Indonesia. I've been coloring since 2011."
Letterer: Steve Wands lives in New Jersey with his wife and two sons. He’s an artist by day, and a writer by night. He drinks massive amounts of coffee, and sleeps very little. He is the author of the Stay Dead series of novels and short stories. His lettering has littered the pages of comic books around the world including such titles as Action Comics, Batman, American Vampire, Next Testament, Adventure Time, Attack On Titan, and many others for DC Comics, Vertigo, BOOM! Studios, and Kodansha Comics.
Editors: Rebecca Null (story and script) and Rob Dumo (art) of Broken Icon Comics.
Poster art: Josh Chinsky

Risks and challenges
The entire creative team is juggling multiple jobs and family lives, so if there is a work or family crisis our timeline could get pushed back. The risks for finishing Sevara #0 are minimal though. 1/3 of the book is already completed, the contracts have been signed, and the team is poised on the edge of their seats to complete this pilot issue. The major obstacle will be for me to ship all the rewards once the project is funded if a large number of people pledge. Your patience is appreciated while we receive the funding from Amazon, produce your orders, and have them shipped to your door.
