Hi, my name is Daisy O'Connor, and I'm a singer-songwriter based out of Austin, TX. I've been dedicating my life to music since I quit my job in social work in 2011, and I'm thankful to have released a handful of albums and had the opportunity to tour throughout the United States. Since I released my Kickstarter-funded debut album in 2016, I've had some unexpected challenges. My life almost ended on the road when a car hydroplaned across the highway and into my car on November 3rd, 2016. I was really lucky, and I've been slowly walking off the whiplash ever since thanks to the support of my friends, family, and fans. This collection of songs were written after the accident, and they are the songs that helped get me through some of the darkest days of my life. I hope they can help someone else, too.
Being an indie musician means rolling with the punches and taking lots of hits. Normally, I'm up to the task and keep on trucking. But my injuries from the car accident set me back physically, which also took an emotional toll. I had to cancel a bunch of shows, dial back my album release plan, and put my life on hold for the indefinite future. At the time I had planned to be the most busy touring, I wasn't able to work, to push my new album, or to do much of anything besides focus on getting better.
Thankfully, music was there for me. I had nothing but time and my guitar, and she gave me some sweet songs. Then friends started stepping forward to help with my shows, and I've been blessed to play with a band regularly ever since.
At first, the songs on this EP felt so fragile, so scary to play in front of people. I hid them away. But my bandmates kept asking to play them during rehearsals, and I felt something growing. New life, peeking out from under my mountain of depressive, pain ridden darkness.
Sometimes we have to move through the darkness to see the light. Sometimes we get sick and it takes forever to get better. But eventually, hopefully, we get to feel how incredible it is to heal. I'm still feeling it. I'm still growing stronger. As always, its the journey not the destination that matters. These are songs of healing, pure and simple. They take place in a degree of darkness, but they lead with hope. I hope they reach the people who need to hear them.
I'm so thankful to YOU- Team Daisy- for helping me finish this album and share it!
p.s. there is some rock n roll in this EP- a bit of an evolution from my previous work, but I think you will dig it!
Risks and challenges
With the minimum goal of $6,000, I'll be able to make the album (audio + visual components), print a short run of physical copies, and deliver everything to YOU, my Kickstarter backers!
Our second goal of $10,000 will allow us to make a MUSIC VIDEO to help promote the album! WE LOVE MAKING VIDEOS!
Our 3rd goal of $15,000 would allow us to run a promotional campaign to help the music & video reach more ears. We had some PR success with our recent release and we're excited to build on that momentum, thanks to your very generous support!
Our 4th goal- pie in the sky! - is $20,000. It would allow us to do all of the above AND do a small promotional tour with the band. "I wanna sing that rock n roll!"
