About

Oh hey there! We hope you enjoyed our video. Don't worry it's not over yet...just continue reading below to learn more about our company and the project you could help make possible with just a few clicks of a button!

We started preparations for our company months before graduation from the Fashion Institute of Technology. As we were doing our market research, we came to the conclusion that there was far too much of a disconnect between the small bubble of the intimate apparel industry and the real world that surrounds it. While we both greatly appreciated our traditional training, we were rarely taught to be mindful of the waste we created or to think about the sources of the materials we used or the life-cycle of what we produced.

So we decided to create a lingerie company that would bridge sexy and sustainable by incorporating in our designs fabrics such as Tencel® (made from wood pulp from sustainable tree farms), Modal® (a cellulosic fiber made from beech trees), Sorona® (a polymer made from corn), recycled polyester, recycled nylon and organic cotton.

Our first collection has now been selected to be part of Nolcha’s Ethical Fashion Shows, held simultaneously with Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week in September. Nolcha Fashion Week consists of four days of runway shows, exhibition and industry networking events. It showcases independent fashion designers from all over the world, with over 40 designers participating each season. If we reach our goal here on Kickstarter we will be the only lingerie company in Nolcha's fashion week.

We need to raise enough money to be able to cover the costs of the show, finish our sample making, and take our collection into production. To ensure quality control and ethical working conditions, we will be producing our first collection in New York, which is more expensive than having our lingerie and swimwear made overseas. If we are successful, we want to sell our pieces through specialty boutiques and online retailers.

Here's a breakdown of the costs involved:

Nolcha Fashion Week- $4,500

Sample making- $1,000

Fabrics and trims- $2,000

Patternmaking, grading, fitting, production-  $3,650

Labeling supplies (hangtags, care tags, labels)- $300

Shipping costs- $400

Workspace rent/ office supplies (6 months)- $2,400

Kickstarter fee (5% of $15,000)- $750

In keeping with the philosophy of our brand, we plan to raise money for different charities at each event we hold. For the launch of our brand which took place in Williamsburg, Brooklyn just last month we sold raffle tickets to raise money for the Hallmark family of Arab, Alabama, whose home and members were devastated by the tornadoes in April. We raised over $250 for the family, which we then used to buy them  clothing and other necessities they had lost in the storms. (We plan on raising money for the Wounded Warriors Project at our next event).

So now in order to make this all happen, we need your help! You can donate as little as a dollar, or as much as a million : ) what ever you can give will be greatly appreciated!

hugs and kisses,

d&e
