Relic Hunters Legend tells the story of a mysterious time-traveller with no memories and a ragtag band of relic hunters, who join forces to defeat an evil villain who has stolen the past!
In the fantastic sci-fi world of the Relic Hunters, the entire Galaxy is ruled by the Duke Ducan and his Ducan troops. The evil Duke has somehow stolen the past, and tells everyone that he is responsible for everything good that has ever happened - providing legitimacy to his oppressive regime.
Led by Pinkyy and Jimmy, the Relic Hunters travel around the Galaxy looking for ancient ruins and Relics of the old civilization (the “Keepers”), trying to restore the memory of the true past. In Relic Hunters Legend, they will find a new mysterious ally: Seven, who has no memories and the strange ability to travel back and forth through time.
Since Relic Hunters is a persistent online game, our goal is to tell a deep, non-linear, character-driven story across many years, just like a TV series. We already have a rough script for the first Season, and it will flesh out the Universe, present characters new and old, and reach a satisfying conclusion, while still leaving many opportunities open for the next Seasons to pick up the story.
Our story will also be expanded by the comics (which tell the events that happened before Legend) and animated short movies!

This is a sequel to a 100% free game, with no micro-transactions. We make games because we love them. We want to support the development, and we want our players to be happy.

Our ace is in the sleeve for this project is Raphael Müller - he has quietly become one of the best game composers around, with stunning soundtracks for games such as Chroma Squad, Dungeonland, Star Vikings, Galaxy of Pen & Paper, and a few tracks on Relic Hunters Zero.
This time he is dedicated to a single goal: make Relic Hunters Legend's soundtrack the best he has ever written.

With over a decade of games industry experience, Mark has seen it all, working independently and with publishers big and small. He also filled the role of Designer and Producer in Chroma Squad and Dungeonland, and in Relic Hunters Zero he coded the entire game from scratch. Loves games about shooting and/or looting, cooking, playing the guitar and his two rescue cats “Raj” and “Fuça”. His favorite character is Pinkyy - he even has a Pinkyy tattoo!
Betu’s track record in game development is flawless: Knights of Pen & Paper, Chroma Squad, Relic Hunters Zero and Galaxy of Pen & Paper. Always working as part of an art team at Behold Studios, with Relic Hunters Legend he has the opportunity to direct the art by himself for the very first time - it’s a very personal project for him, and it shows, with beautiful art that just oozes character. He is also a circus artist who can often be found upside down or hanging from ropes, or skating downhill on Sundays. His favorite character is Jimmy - the first one he designed for Relic Hunters!
Raphael has been Mark’s inseparable partner since they began to make games over 10 years ago. An outright legendary composer and designer, he has worked on a massive list of games that include Dungeonland, Chroma Squad, Relic Hunters Zero and Galaxy of Pen & Paper. This German-born (but Brazilian at heart) composer loves sushi and chocolate, languages and literature, travelling and trekking. His favorite character is Raff, which Betu designed as a “thank you” for being such a sweetheart and working on Relic Hunters Zero for free!

They just made what they wanted, how they wanted, and the result was Relic Hunters Zero, which amassed over 1 million players and overwhelmingly positive user reviews.
With the sequel, we want to give fans of the first game everything they’ve always wanted: online cooperative play, deeper customization, and a bigger focus on characters and story.

Even though Relic Hunters Legend is a commercial game with large-scale ambitions, we want to maintain the free spirit and community-driven energy of Relic Hunters Zero. Mark is already investing all of his savings into this game, but in order for Legend to reach its full potential, it needs more funding.

Risks and challenges
Making a game this big comes with huge challenges, and as industry veterans we are fully aware of this.
We are doing a Kickstarter at this point in time to ensure we have the resources next year to maintain our current momentum. Our focus is to keep our costs as low as possible and to ensure that we can bring this project to the finish line without running out of money. Doing this campaign successfully now will pretty much guarantee that we can get the project to an Early Access state where it becomes sustainable, with the revenue that comes in fuelling additional development.
If we go past (or even WAY past) our goal for this Kickstarter, it will allow us to hire more people and do the game faster and better. We will also be able to postpone monetization for longer, since we won't be needing Early Access revenue to fund the game to completion. We will also be able to pay back our investors at SPCine and stay as independent as possible, with no one but our fans telling us what to do and when.
We also acknowledge that physical rewards can present problems down the road. We are working directly with a team in the US to make sure that all of our rewards are produced and delivered in quality and in time. Shipping from the US will also reduce shipping costs and potential issues. We also chose the rewards very carefully to make sure we reduce the risk of not delivering, delivering late, or end up losing money instead of using it to develop the game.
Ultimately, we are experienced enough in the industry to take the risks seriously, but we also want to ensure our backers that we mean business - this campaign is our baby, as is this game, and we are taking every step extremely seriously. We have a reputation of being honest and of doing all that we can to keep our promises.
