About this project
Seattle's subterranean world comes alive in DAE's newest extravaganza. We need your support for this free public performance!
In a collaboration between Degenerate Art Ensemble and Olson Kundig Architects as well as more than fifty of Seattle's leading artists, performers, and technicians - a stunning new work will premiere on October 5&6 in a yet-to-be-disclosed subterranean space on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Seattle's World's Fair.
Dance, live chorus and string quartet, massive video portraits, stop action animation and a light installation create a meditation on the underbelly of the city. DAE has commissioned new work by guest artists including the renowned installation art trio SuttonBeresCuller, lighting installation duo Lilienthal | Zamora and painter/print maker Romson Regarde Bustillo and the Bay Area's vocalist / drummer Dohee Lee among a host of other brilliant talents and DAE's core team to bring alive a series of characters from the past and the imagination.
NEED YOUR SUPPORT! to help pay for artist fees, sound and video
expenses, musician fees, space and equipment rentals, technicians,
materials, lighting and costume. NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL!
The Seattle Center Foundation has pledged support; Olson Kundig Architects are underwriting their creative contributions to the work and many individuals are helping in this effort.
Despite this generous support, we still need to raise $20,000.
Can you help us raise this last amount in order to fully realize this COMPLETELY FREE public event?
This project comes at a momentous time for DAE with a sold out run of their work in New York curated by theater legend Robert Wilson, and DAE's Haruko Nishimura was awarded a 2012 Guggenheim Fellowship!!! Help us capture this moment!
This work is part of a larger body of work that will tour internationally over the next two years. Be part of launching this wonderful collaboration!
