About

Hey there, daddio!

Welcome to our kickstarter campaign. We are Steven and Brian, creators of Daddio. What is Daddio you ask? Well, Daddio is a website that easily allows dads, moms, you name it,  to easily find things to go do with their kids based on interests, location, and other factors parents look for when wanting to explore the world (or park).

Background.

See we are just two dudes who also are dads who also wanted to solve a dad-problem.

It all began about 6 months ago we realized we had a question we wanted solved: how do we easily find things to go do with our kids? At the time Steven had a 4 year old Brian had a 3 year old and another on the way. We both had kids who had different interests (and we as dads had different interests too).

Our weekends as dads typically went like this: Hmmm... what should we go do? Ah, yes, open up google and "search" for things to do. Scroll, more scrolling, "oh look an ad for stuff I don't want", more scrolling...then frustration about finding things in cities we don't live in, or events that had passed, or activities that we had no clue if it was worth the time. The search lead to frustration and that lead to the same Saturday outcome: the park.

Yup. That was a Saturday with our kids. But we wanted to change that. So we did- sort of.

We started with a concept: What if there was a website that would show us all sorts of fun activities and events that we could take our kids to-nearby

A place that did the "searching" and "sorting" for us. One website with all things that any dad could want to explore. A place where we could cut search time down and get outside and exploring faster! A place for "dads" (moms you can come to).

At that moment Daddio was born.

Like the name? We do too. So, we created our name and slogan, mocked up a logo and then hit the ground running. We started developing the website with bootstrapped internal funding. We had some family support and got the first beta of Daddio being complied and developed. While we were developing it we made this little video to spread the word:

First beta launch:

Soon after we had our first beta ready for one mainstream city-Sacramento, CA.

We picked Sacramento because it was our hometown and we knew what was going on locally to be able to promote and explore with our kids to give the website a "real-life" beta with local friends and dads we rubbed shoulders with. This was our Instagram announcement:

We are live!
We are live!

 Hit the ground running...

From there we hit more ground and started connecting with local businesses and dads. We found that we had a wide range of events and activities for Sacramento, but we had interest to reach more cities and more States. We also found some user feedback on what features and elements Daddio could add to make the experience even more awesome!

SuperHero Event, GoodDay Sacramento, and more!

Following the website launch we were fortunate to be featured on GoodDay Sacramento where we were able to share the project with our local base of users. We then held our website kick-off party in style by bringing in some SuperHeroes to join us:

We again were fortunate to have companies sponsor this event for the community and help us share locally who and what Daddio is all about.

We felt then and feel now that Dads and families desire a place such as Daddio to help engage in their community with their kids. SO.....

 Enter Kickstarter.

After surveying dads, reaching out to users, engaging in some local media outlets, and holding our first kick-off event (SuperHero Event) we identified the next steps for Daddio development and what we feel our Kickstarter campaign can help us execute.

  • Expansion into 100+ cities and cities within 30 miles of these main cities (In progress already)
  • Additional filter options such as ratings by user votes (dad-endorsed activities), most popular activities, events/activities based on time to complete or time on-site, and other filter options based on ongoing feedback from users
  • New aspect called: Daddio @ Home, a tab on the website where dads can search and explore activities that can be done at home with the materials they have on hand
  • Local event profile where companies can share their event/activity space with the dad community so families can easily explore where to hold their next personal event (such as a birthday party)

Our campaign funds will go into website development costs of the above mentioned Daddio features. Through this expansion of services, we can reach more fathers, more communities, and engage more families in finding and exploring fun activities.

Thank you.

On behalf of Daddio we want to thank you for looking at our project and supporting this passion for engaging families and helping dads and families explore more and search less for fun nearby. Come check us out as we continue to grow and explore on!

-Steven and Brian, Founders of Daddio.io

Risks and challenges

Risks and challenges come in all shapes and forms. With the current project outline we understand the main project challenge can include website development delays and "bugs" that need to be worked out. We have a solid website development team that works on both the front end and back-end parts of the site to ensure we have a solid website behind the smooth and sleek front-end look.

At the current point, the website project is online for the new expansion of cities by 4/15/2018 and the remaining parts of the project rollout with commence following the completion of the campaign.
