A party by the community, for the community!
Wondering what Con Before the Storm is all about? It's a pre-Blizzcon event organized by fans, for fans. 2018 will make this our 6th year hosting this event and it's all thanks to the support of the amazing community! Last year we had over 140 backers who helped fund a party that hosted over an estimated 6,000 people! Due to the generosity of this community, and the help from our volunteers, thousands of people have made memories year after year at Con Before the Storm and World of Podcasts. As we grow each year, we try our best to improve the event and above all ensure that everyone feels welcome and included.
This is your party, by you and for you! Like our previous years, we're planning to host a fan art gallery, a photobooth, meet & greet autograph rooms, and more! Special guest 'personalities' come to this party so they can meet fans (like you!) in person. Podcasters, streamers, pro esports teams, artists, news sites and fan sites across all Blizzard games will be there!
Our funding goal is $13,500
If we raise that amount of money we will be able to have Con Before the Storm in one ballroom, which will include our Art Gallery, Meet & Greet (with gaming personalities and podcasters), a photobooth and bartenders to serve the party-goers!
Please note Kickstarter will not charge you until our campaign ends on June 3rd!
But why stop there? Let's bring on...
A special note about the $24,500 & $28,500 World of Podcasts tiers:
Since its modest beginnings, World of Podcasts has grown to become a major event celebrating all podcasts covering Blizzard Entertainment games.
It has been our intention to make World of Podcasts as inclusive as possible, and interest was so great that for last years event we created new opportunities to feature over 50 participating shows.
As we’re expecting similar--if not greater!--interest this year, our vision for World of Podcasts 2018 is to showcase the talent in two rooms, with panels running concurrently from start to finish. We attempted this on a small scale last year with our Podcasting panel, and while we were happy with the content of the panel, we feel that every panel should be equally equipped for recording and presentation.
We are passionate and excited at the prospect of making this year’s World of Podcasts a reality. However, World of Podcasts 2018 will only be added to Con Before the Storm if at least the $24,500 tier is met.

How This Reward Process Works:
STEP 1: Review and select the reward tier that most interests you
STEP 2: Decide if you want one or more addons and note the price.
STEP 3: Back the project by selecting your favorite tier. If you want an addon, increase the pledge amount by the amount of the addon, $10 or $25; for two addons that are $25 you would add $50, etc. If you DON'T want an addon, no need to change the price.

Risks and challenges
Each year of our event, we've encountered hiccups that we have worked to improve upon, and we believe it shows. For example, when we moved our event over to the Hilton Anaheim in 2014, a big lesson we learned that year was the sheer number of volunteers we need to make this party run. Thus in 2015, we secured more people to help out and came better prepared.
A big focus for us this year is our continued improvement of the Art Gallery. We're proud of the quality of the art we display (thank you talented artists!) but the logistics of hanging and distributing it has been a challenge. Last year, we implemented an online giveaway system that worked really well, and plan to do so again for 2018, but with some slight tweaks. Furthermore, we are dedicating an entire team to oversee the process (versus only 2-3 people who are also juggling other tasks leading up to the event). The great folks at Twisted Nether Blogcast will be organizing and running the Art Gallery this year, and with over 10 years of prior Blizzcon party planning experience under their belts, we are feeling great going in to 2018.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
