Have a question?
Kind of sad to see this did not work out.
$125,000 always looked too ambitious for me - potential backers would have been put off.
Consider what's the minimum you would need to get this off the ground and what compromises you'd need to make to the production values.
Looking forward to your re-launch.
It's a shame that you've cancelled this project, it looks a great game. I wish you the very best of luck and I hope you can come back for a second attempt.
It is a shame that this is going to be canceled, I really liked the feel for it and the look of the miniatures. The biggest issue and advice is to look at why something like this campaign would cost $125,000 and see where you can trim the fund level down. I haven't seen anything, even with the miniatures, that would warrant it needing a pledge goal of that high to manufacture. Even with molds for the miniatures and board game, the costing shouldn't be more than $40-50k for plastic version, $30-40k for resin. I would suggest resin but that is just me, you can find smaller operations to do that for less.
Maybe its better to cancel the current campaign and restart it with a more "KS realistic" funding goal and some other optimizations? Tbh i dont see this campaign fund.
@Ronald Delval The extra mini add-on was created to give all the people, who just wanted the minis, the possibility to buy them without the whole game. They won't be needed for the campaign, but if you play with alot of people and want to increase the challenge even more, than they might come in handy.
Say if i were to get the minis an extra time would they be useful in the campaign system?
It would make that addon most alluring if that were the case.
Let me just clear up another reason that I think the 28mm scale was the right choice. Storage/Transportation. Any game that has miniatures at all, and you'll have people that will paint them. Once they're painted storage and transportation is more of a concern (you don't want to just throw them into the game box). Most of my miniature storage/transportation solutions are already scaled for ~28mm. This means that won't have to get a whole new storage solution just for 1 game. :)
And yes, I do realize that this KS is first and foremost a board game (hence why I backed at the game level and not just miniatures), but having expanded use for the pieces is always a good thing.
@colin fisher We've received more messages about miniature only add-ons, before we made those changes. The problem with additional miniature packages would be, that it would raise the needed fundings a lot. The molds for those models are very expansive and it wouldn't work out to finance new molds, just with additional add-ons.
Hendrik Dahlberg It would probably help alot, if old forum user poste something over there - unfortunatly - I've never been into forums and posting something as a complete new account always seems like spam. And you are right, we need more people over here.
@Jason Gifford Thank you for your help and feedback over here.
Hi, thAnks for listening to all the backer comments it really makes a difference. I made a comment previously about optional mini buys and I think you may have misunderstood the point I was making.
Rather than adding a separate level for minis only, what I was suggesting is you many want to consider adding additional guards into the game that current backers can optionally buy on top of their pledge. Things like cyber guard dogs, corporate psykers etc. as it stands the guard options seem pretty basic and could easily be added to. This may be already in your minds for stretch goals but 125k is massive gap before we can start to strengthen the guards and edge walkers.... Get them out now and entice backers to pledge more :)
FWIW we play both board and/or miniature games, and cross functionality is good for those who wants it. Those who play boardgames are usually not too fussed about if the scale is 20mm, 30mm or 40mm, they're just playing pieces. The more wargame inclined tend to be much more scale fuzzy. So, by adapting to the most generic scale maybe more can be attracted? That said this is a board game and the proof is in the rules and system. So just hit those forums and make this game known. The only thing that Counts is moar backas! :-)
As a 2nd viewpoint, I upgraded my pledge to the full game because of the change in mini size. :)
@Mark The resizing was worth a shot and as we said, we will listen to our backer. I understand what you mean and currently I focus on the boardgame, so that I can deliver more about the game in the next update. Many people told us, that they don't back it, because the think the numbers are too high, but since this is our first campaign, we wanted to try it with the fundings needed for the game we always wanted to make (and not a cutted version). Again I want to thank you for your trust and your help over here - no feedback will be unheard!
@stephane.p Thank you for your help and I'm sorry that we had to dissapoint you in this way. We heard to what most people over here said and hoped, that we would be able to increase the fundings - we just have to wait and see.
Upgrade my pledge to 99 but extremely disappointed whit the smaller mini size!
Well i upgraded my pledge to 99.00 level. I really like this game and wanna be edge walking next year with my game group!!
Positives though, now that the minis have been delt with, you can focus on improving the game. Have all the rules up, including diffrent modes of play. Multiple good gameplay videos. Maybe look into Beats of War so a demo of your game and put on youtube. Demigods Rising and Dungeon Saga did that and it really helped. Look into KS exclusives like foil cards, minis.
Cyntopia is a very cool game and pretty to look at. Something is anchoring it down and its hard say what it is. I dont think its one single thing, but maybe many small things.
@Sabastian - I feel adjusting the minis was a mistake. I feel a small mini crazed majority influenced you to much. Right now on KS i feel mini craze is blinding backers form the actual BOARDGAME thats infront of them. These people dont care about what you have here and only care how your minis will fit there other games. Sadly you listened to them. Your numbers havent improved.
I also think 125k is to high. It may have killed the hope of funding before you even got started. Not to many break 100k unless your a big name.
I would cancel, repackage, and relaunch. Sorry to be the party pooper :(
@Steffen Krebs The first days looked promising and we have to spread the word out even more, if we want to succeed over here.
@Mark Welcome back on the Edge, as said every bit of help counts and every feedback we receive is good feedback, so do you have any suggestions?
Im back but only at the 1 level. Just not sure if i wanna back this yet or not. Well see what the future updates bring.
i am really concerned about the funding goal and how slow this grows here.
@David Smith Thanks for pointing the mistake out, changed it and uploaded the corrected version. Yes, the current rules are just the 1-dice boardgame rules. The RPG-elements will come with another update.
Thanks for the rules, but is it still just a 1-dice test to accomplish anything, no mods/extra dice for skill, weapons, target cover etc etc? The pdf is slightly off on the layout so the NPC sheet goes over 2 sheets instead of 1.
Thx and please just call me Peer.
@Peer It just want live, Edgewalker Peer.
When are you going to post the update?
@Abhuman Aux. It is, Edgewalker Abhuman Aux, but we hope that todays update can change that.
I know it's early days, but slipping back off the plateau is worrying.
Okay, so I will look forward to the more detailed version.
@Dagda Every helping hand counts. That is the simple version of the rules, if you dont want to spend hours reading rulebooks or have people arguing over the rules. This tuesday will feature an update, which will feature more information about the complete rulebook and the gameplay.
I'll admit, so far I am more interested than convinced, so I pledged $1 to get your updates.
One question to your gameplay video. Do I understand it correctly, that PC and NPC both throw a die and compare the results to see who attacks?!? And that looting and opening doors are also handled like this?!?
@Dagda Welcome on the Edge and thank you for your help, Edgewalker Dagda!
@Henrik Dahlberg We all share this hope on the Edge and I want to thank you for your contribution, Edgewalker Dahlberg!
Hi all! I too found this one via Wayland. Cyber games are far between IMHO so lets hope this one gets funded! :-)
i confess ;-)
That is okay, I do the same. ;)
Looks like you just found another one... :D
I have to admit that i sometimes just take a peek at Dagda's profile to find new projects to back ;-)
Wo bin ich nicht... / at what cool looking project am I not?!? ;)
Dagda is everywhere ;)
ah Dagda ist auch hier ;-)
Hi Peer... :D
Seems like I have to be in Neumünster next Saturday ;)
Will be there early because we are going to play SoB on Saturday.
@colin fisher Thank you Edgewalker. There will be an update this coming tuesday, which will feature more information regarding optional content.
@Peer If you're in Neumünster coming saturday, you'll be able to test Cyntopia. Also we are working on more content to reveal with each update. And of course thank you for your helping hand over here, Edgewalker Peer.
I am here because a friend from Neumünster told me about the game. As colin said your goal is very ambitious and I hope you have got enough stuff to show and to sell to reach your goal.
I really hope this funds the game looks great, however you target is so high. The only way I can see you reaching it is to bring in more optional buys (probably new guards/bots) to ramp up the pledges.
Fingers crossed though
@Ross: I'm glad to see, that some of our backers found their way here through our production partners - anyway, welcome to our ranks, Edgewalker Ross!
To reach the main goal is our first priority at the moment. But beside the three additional player characters in the first stretchgoal, we are indeed working on trying to make separate miniatures available. We will provide you with more information in our next update.
I'm afraid we won't appeal persuasive enough to Rammstein though, but you might like to try Compilerbau.
Nearly missed this if it wasn't for a ad on Wayland Games :) Can not wait for this game. There is not many Cyberpunk/Dystopian future board games, Mercs is the only other one I can think of, fantasy has been done to death.
Have you thought of add-ons like extra miniatures, tiles or get Rammstien to do a CD (wishful thinking) :)
Good luck with the kickstarter.
@Kalevala Thank you very much for your help here, Edgewalker Kalevala.
So gute tat vollbracht. Viel Erfolg.
Good deed done. Good Luck
Vote for 28 or 32 mm
@BlasterCA I do understand your point of view Edgewalker BlasterCA and in the current state of the poll, it looks very promising for ~28mm miniatures.
@Abhuman Aux You're right Edgewalker Abhuman Aux, at this point we need to reach out for all groups alike - so that we're able to reach the initial goal and some SGs.
@Vinehart Again I want to thank you very much for your support and we have the same thoughts about Kickstarter. Together we will be able to walk on the Edge.
@vinehart - everyone here wants this to fund; that's why we've pledged after all.
I have been sharing on my social media to help get word out, and I hope that this awesome looking game will surpass its target.
People who may make what could be seen as negative or sad comments are pointing out issues that they see that might weaken the project's appeal to multiple markets. Surely maximising take-up from boardgamers, miniature fans, cyberpunks et al is vital - no one group alone can get this great project funded; it's about making the project so it is as inclusive and attractive to all these groups (and others).
There's alot of down feeling in the past few comments. I think this game looks fan-bloody-tastic and I want it to succeed. So im spreading the word on forums, Facebook and in my local gaming community.
This is what KS is here for, so that small projects can see the light of day and be supported by fans. So lets support it, Sebastian has already made the right move reference miniature size with the backer pole. We have the choice so no matter why you chose to vote for whichever size miniature its your choice as a backer and as a gamer supporting another gamer to achieve a dream and give us a kick arse game in the process.
Im walking the Edge
