"The term ‘game changer’ barely does the film justice, and the big screen is just the place to see it in all its ominous splendour. " Time Out
We want to give people the chance to watch this amazing film, Chasing Ice, in a unique setting - outdoors on a giant screen, all powered by bicycles! We know people get a real buzz from al fresco cinema and find the pedal power system, which generates all the electricity for our projector, really exciting too.
We're setting up a giant outdoor cinema in Wivenhoe on New Year's Day for a one-off event.
The film is on cinema release, which means that we need to pay the distributor a fee to be allowed to show the film. Because we want our event to be free and accessible to as many people as possible, we need to raise the necessary funds before the event. Crowd funding with Kickstarter means that lots of people can become a part of this event and help by making a small pledge.
Risks and challenges
Outdoor cinema has many challenges, not least the January weather. We're crossing all our fingers for a crisp and bright January evening, but scoping out indoor alternative venues just in case the weather turns really foul.
We've taken our Bicycle Powered Cinema to festivals, schools, conferences and events. Each location is different and our system is constantly evolving and imporving, but we always find creative solutions to all the technical problems that inevitably arise.
We're promoting this film screening through lots of local channels, but you can help make it a success by helping spread the word. The more people who come, the happier we'll be.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
