HOW IT WORKS
With Cybershoes® on your feet, all of your movements are controlled by your own legs, so you can feel like you’re exploring ancient cave ruins or fleeing from a grasping horde of the undead.
Step 1: Strap on the Shoes
While seated, the user straps on the Cybershoes® over his or her shoes. One size fits all.
Step 2: Take a Seat
Use a chair that can rotate around its axis. While walking in a game, the user is halfway seated. This ensures Cybershoes® is comfortable and secure.
Step 3: Let's Play!
Cybershoes® walking movement is very intuitive and the virtual space is not limited by real space.
What is on the Bottom
There is a roll on the bottom of the shoe that precisely tracks your moment.
Once you've learned where the roller sits, Cybershoes® can be used very efficiently without tiring your legs.
Directional Tracking inside
The shoes keep their orientation. You can walk in the direction of your feet while looking around from side to side.
VR Sickness / Nausea
There is no specific answer, as it varies highly between individuals; but yes, Cybershoes® does help.
The reason is: When you walk in real life, you naturally move your head slightly from side to side and up and down. These are exactly the same movements that you perform while using Cybershoes®.
Stretch Goal: Z-Scaling
The seated position makes it impossible to pick up things from the ground. That's why we came up with Z-scaling. Then you can actually reach the virtual ground and fully duck when needed. Plus: the eye-height can be calibrated on the fly.

For example, in DOOM you can already jump by lifting your hands. We can update later on software to make that in any game without adding hardware cost.
GRAPHIC USER INTERFACE
The User Interface (UI) can be operated from inside a VR game. Calibrate the shoes and off you go! Calibration is needed only once per gaming session. Just by clicking on "Follow Cybershoes®”, Cybershoes® will align with your headset - it’s that easy!
Cybershoes® is compatible with any SteamVR application that utilizes touchpad or thumbsticks for free locomotion, as well as the Vive, the Oculus Rift, the Pimax, and Microsoft Mixed Reality via the Steam platform.

MORE GAMEPLAY (Skyrim)
A pair of Cybershoes® comes with a dedicated wireless receiver. The receiver connects via USB to your PC. Cybershoes® use radio, not Bluetooth, for stability and performance. Up to two stations can be operated on the main Cybershoes® channel. For arcades and dedicated multiplayer setups, we offer a multiplayer package that runs on different channels.
3 hours of charging (Micro USB) give you 8-10 hours playtime. Don't walk with the shoes around your house, as they're slippery. The shoes support up to 220lb / 100kg, which is actually also the limit for most bar-stools. As long as you do not stand on the shoes, and use a sturdy chair and base (like the one from our premium package), Cybershoes® can be used almost regardless of weight!
You need a carpet to operate Cybershoes®. Any carpet that offers you a playing area of 59" / 150cm will work. Long hairs and uneven texture are not recommended. Using a very thin carpet works, however, you will feel the presence of the roll. There is no functional disadvantage. For your convenience, we are offering the perk “Cybercarpet”, which has the exact perfect size, thickness, and texture!
BAR-STOOL / CHAIRS
By the time we are shipping, we will also release our recommended bar-stools, grouped by country and availability. There are quite a few bar-stools that proved to work perfectly with Cybershoes®. We've tested each stool at various conventions and bought them on Amazon in the US, Europe, and Japan. They range from $40-$80. Office chairs are not suitable because they are too heavy and you cannot turn around fast.

Risks and challenges
Hardware is hard - it's a cliché and partially true. At our stage, the main reason is, you cannot do a partial test of hardware components. It is the interplay of feel, electronics, and mechanics.
We tested and improved the 2nd generation prototype for 1.5 years at various VR events before taking Cybershoes® to the gaming industry. The significantly advanced E3 / 3rd generation held up wonderfully despite back-to-back use by 3200 people. While there've been some flaws at the first presentation at E3, ever since Gamescom the system runs without interruption! Graphic User Interface & decoupling of view and shoe direction runs without issue since the Tokyo Game Show!
We've decided to omit sidesteps as they pose a potential risk in production. Keep it simple and provide what the user really needs.
In order to mitigate risks of mass-production, we've contracted an Estonian DFM for the final check and amendment of our mold and PCB designs. It's a company with a lot of expertise, including smart running shoes, wireless door locks, and military surveillance equipment.

Needless to say, we will check every detail! There is no other way since we have been developing the product for over 3 years and have been working with all prototypes in-house.
* We will change the position of the seam between the lower and upper plastic parts by 1/4" / 6mm.
* We will change the layout of the PCB, however, we will stick to the same components.
* Regarding direct integration to Oculus home: not all is in our hands, this also depends on future driver changes and updates.
* The SteamVR platform is very open and there's no risk of losing compatibility with SteamVR and Oculus via SteamVR.
* As for console compatibility, we cannot promise anything, as this means a dedicated decision by one of the console manufacturers to support and integrate Cybershoes®.
Some of the cheap bar stools come with a very small stand. The ones that we've tested at the conventions are medium sized and proved to work fine. However, just 2 times out of the 3200 people that tried Cybershoes®, a tall and highly active guy got so immersed that he fell over with the chair. That being said: no liabilities, be careful, make sure there are no dangerous objects around you. And one more thing: don't walk with the shoes around your house, as they're slippery. The shoes support up to 220lb / 100kg, which is actually also the limit for most bar-stools. As long as you do not stand on the shoes, and use a sturdy chair and base (like the one from our premium package), Cybershoes® can be used almost regardless of weight!
Due to our diligent research, there are no import taxes/customs on virtual reality accessories for the US, Japan, and many other countries. As of today, for the US, there won't be a VAT either. Please keep in mind that these regulations might change and you would have to cover customs and VAT. Cybershoes® GmbH is a registered limited company in Austria under Austrian and European laws and tax regulations. For European citizens, there won't be a VAT to pay either, as we will pay it for you.
