Linux support

Epic has announced that the Unreal 4 engine will have Linux support. We would love to support Linux and we are currently evaluating what it means for the scope and cost of development.

Register for Mysterium

The annual Myst fan gathering, Mysterium, will be held here in Spokane, Washington this year. The dates are August 1st-3rd, and Saturday's activities will include some fun stuff at the Cyan headquarters! There will be some exciting news, sneak peeks, and, of course, up close and personal briefings on the latest Obduction developments. You don't want to miss this one! You can find more information for the event at:

The Mysterium committee has graciously created a special discount code for Obduction Kickstarter/Paypal backers: use the coupon code SPACEPINECONES for $5 off the Standard Weekend Badge price of $25.00.

Depending on the cost I think you may want to consider holding off on Linux support until the game is complete, the additional time spent putting the game on Linux may take away time that you otherwise could have spent adding additional touches to the game.

About changing shipping addresses: if you fill in the survey then log into the KS website you can click on the "Your response" link, which will show you what address you put in. There is also a banner just above the address that tells you to change it.

    3. David H on April 15, 2014

I second the question about changing shipping addresses. I'm moving at least once between now and when the game will ship, possibly more.

Colin, the instructions very clearly state you should enter N/A for those fields, so you should do that. Anything else could lead to trouble.

My question is is this binding? If I pick Steam or GoG now, will that be where I must end up getting the game from? I'd rather make that actual decision later, in case one provides extras that the other doesn't, etc.

The "more add-ons" and "paypal id" fields are REQUIRED in the survey. I paid through Kickstarter only and I didn't pledge enough to get more than two add-ons, so the correct value for those fields is nothing.

I'm just going to slap an underscore in there, but hey, be more careful about how you design forms. (If this is a problem with Kickstarter's forms system, and not how you guys used it, then this criticism is aimed at Kisckstarter.)

Will there be a way to change my shipping address if I move before the game ships?

@gijobarts - One you are most likely to use. We will contact you directly to get every version figured out.

@all - All the surveys will be emailed. You should see them sometime in the next day or so.

I'm getting multiple copies for computers with different OSs. How should I enter that in the survey?

I'll be pleased with my backing even without Linux support, but I would definitely prefer it. Count me as a vote for Linux.

      Linux...Please make it happen :-)

    13. Pedro Gelabert on April 12, 2014

Were these surveys emailed and were we to reply by email? I think I remember those but not ones we had to return by mail.

    14. Pedro Gelabert on April 12, 2014

Same here. Is there a survey somewhere?

    15. Elaine Magliacane on April 12, 2014

Survey? what survey? Did I miss something?

THIS IS AMAZING NEWS!!! Thanks for Linux support. I'm a huge fan of CYAN WORLDS. The MYST series is the games of my childhood. I'll never forget those bright impressions. You opened the door to new magic worlds for all of us...
