YAU! (Yet Another Update)

Wow! We’re getting all kinds of love from people experiencing Obduction in VR on the Rift. So glad you’re enjoying it! Those accolades really boost our morale! Thanks for the support.

We’ve got a few more items…

First - Oculus Store codes: All of the stores (Oculus, Steam, GoG, Humble) have been updated with the latest version of Obduction which adds support for the Oculus Rift. Yay! That means that Obduction at ALL stores is now playable in VR. We provided the Oculus Store codes as an early-release treat - a nice bonus for Backers. Now that the VR enabled version is everywhere, the codes are no longer necessary, and they will be expiring on Friday, Nov 4th.

Second - Smooth Turning in VR: We made the choice to only include “snap” turning when we launched Obduction for VR, because we wanted to err on the “comfortable” side. We always planned to listen for feedback from VR players. Now that we’ve heard you loud and clear, we’re happy to announce that we have a hot-fix going through final testing now that will allow smooth turns.

Third - Help Spread the Word: We have continued to update Obduction with new features, better performance, bug fixes, etc. We’ve managed to get a whole lot of glowing reviews, but we could use your help getting the word out. If you are enjoying the Obduction journey and excited about the VR release (or the upcoming Mac release) please Tweet, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc with #obduction and share your excitement! Thanks!

Fourth - The Mac Version: Just a reminder that the Mac version continues to be a PRE-RELEASE version with known issues. We are totally committed to providing a beautiful Mac experience, and we are working on an update that will improve a few things… but a final release version is dependent on a Metal API update from Apple.

Fifth - Physical Rewards: We’re getting physical rewards proofed, printed, and pressed, BUT everything hinges on a final version of game itself that will be on the DVD. Fulfillment of physical rewards looks like a December timeframe.

Any update on that? Surprise, surprise, it's December already :-)

      I haven't received any codes yet. :(

god, after all this searching and all this digging I finally found my Obduction code buried in the stupid Humble interface. Now I can finally play this darned game. I am just finally relieved that I get to experience this game finally..

    4. Nick Evans on November 20

This is sad, I have emailed you guys a few times. I still don't have my code for my digital copy. I backed the $250 level so I should be getting both a physical and digital version.

Can someone PLEASE help me out, I have checked every single email (nothing in spam). Accessed my humble bundle page and no codes there either.

I would like to play the game I paid for, but I am unable to. And contacting the backers email address at Cyan is proving to be fruitless.

      Please guys, help me out.

Waiting for the PSVR version out :)

Can I get my boxed copy containing the Mac version? I wouldn't like to have a boxed copy for nostalgic reasons and not being able to use it without another OS.

    7. Andre DeVine on November 7

With word going around that console versions of Obduction are in the works, will we be able to request a console version for the physical version?

    8. FR3D on November 6

      HTC VIVE ! Please ....

    9. C. Scott Davis on November 4

The smooth-turning hotfix has posted in the Oculus store (yay!). Unfortunately, the release notes about how to turn it on are incorrect...

The ConfigVR folder is inside the Config folder, not in the main Saved folder.
The GameUserSettings.ini file is inside a WindowsNoEdit subfolder.
There is no FreeIntenseSmoothTurning setting in the file, but if you add "FreeIntenseSmoothTurning=True", it does work.

So the full path to go to is:

      %SystemDrive%:\Users\{your_user_name}\AppData\Local\Obduction\Saved\Config\ConfigVR\WindowsNoEditor

Any news regarding the PS4 version of Obduction? Eagerly awaiting that version! Hopefully supporting PSVR. :)

There is still no Linux version - so how can even think about some "HTC Vive"?

There were no words about "HTC Vive" during Kickstarter campaign.

There were no promises after Kickstarter campaign. There were no stretch goal.

So I still can't understand what is "HTC Vive" and why some continue to ask about it?

The silence on a potential HTC Vive port at this stage can be nothing but calculated, after so many backers asking about it in recent updates. To deliberately ignore so many backers on this, to not even say a few words either way, is deeply disappointing.

Thanks for the great work. Apple I'm giving you the evil eye ^.^

Is there anything we can all do to get Apple to work on the API?!! Come one Apple!

    16. Ian G G Smith on November 2

It is very sad to see that now the race is run that CYAN are pretty much ignoring the many backers who keep asking the question `will there be a Vive version?` despite asking that question being asked by numerous people in the previous update you have issued this update on an update and chosen to ignore the question - pretty poor response for 3 years of loyal backing.
Would not have taken more than a few minutes to add a further paragraph to your update on an update and address the question in hand. Either way- but no.

    17. Fabien Givors on November 2

      Thanks for all the work.
During the funding period, you said that there could be a Linux version of Obduction if Unreal Engine was compatible with linux. Given that it is, can we hope for a Linux pre-release soonish?
If we can't, can you give some public documentation/api/partial source-code, so that the opensource community could manage the port?
It's frustrating to be unable to run games on Linux for economical reasons when many people would happily do the work for free…

    18. Thomas Porter on November 2

I GUESS NOW YOU WILL NOT SEND THE GAME!

Will the game be compatible with the HTC Vive?

    20. Elaine Magliacane on November 2

Sigh... still waiting for a DVD... since the dowload options didn't work at all.

    21. Matt Combes on November 2

Hoping that final Mac version is able to be released before the end of the year; I just upgraded from my non-Obduction-capable 2011 Mac Mini to the new MacBook Pro that should arrive in 3 weeks or so and I'm itching to have Obduction be the first game I play on it.

      Err, anyone else.
(Why can't I edit comments, Kickstarter?)

    25. Josh on November 2

I don't know about anything else, but I'm fine waiting longer for the boxed game if it means a more polished version gets authored. I'd hate to download more updates for it later.

    26. Manoel Trapier on November 2

If a console version is about to be done, it's on the Switch that it should be done !

    27. C. Scott Davis on November 2

Yay for smooth turning! Thanks for listening!

Please make a Linux version with Vulkan API!

    29. Tim Soderstrom on November 2

I'm still holding out hope for a Linux version. I don't use Windows often enough to really put the game through its paces (though when I did it was quite glorious).

    30. Noah Norton on November 2

      awesome thanks for the updates!
A bit off topic but I was wondering if there are any plans to release (or have a kickstarter to fund) a console (Xbox-One / PS4) version of the game?!
As a Mac user who is (trying to) patiently wait it keeps occurring my to me that I would almost prefer it on a console to experience it with family/ friends and on a bigger screen. sound system, etc. since the game has a fairly minimal control scheme it could work really well and I for one would be happy to buy an additional copy or contribute to another kickstarter to help make it happen.
