About this project

I love filmmaking, and am working on a great project called nuke bonds, plus I am documenting the process in a web series called Three Threads.  We want to spread the word and grow a grassroots, interactive community that really cares about our shared nuclear world.  Three Threads is an excellent way to introduce people to the larger film project, but it stands on its own as an entertaining story.  Please don't take my word for it; see for yourself www.nukebonds.com.

Thread #1, the faith thread, is complete, released on-line and episodes screened in Phoenix, Los Angeles and Cincinnati.  The goal is to finish the next two threads (film and fences, the kind around the nuclear weapons complex) by summer's end.  Please consider backing Three Threads and sharing it with others.  I really appreciate you, and am happy to offer some quality premiums in return!

We plan to produce a special edition DVD for backers only, and then there is a glossy Three Threads postcard that I will personalize for you, and honey from East Tennessee. With some volunteer help from several musicians, artists, and editors, we can complete two more threads for a bit more than we would have spent to make a DVD of the faith thread alone.  That is good news, because you will be able to see a much longer film (90 minutes)!   The money you pledge will cover costs associated with post-production and on-line distribution.

In Three Threads- Seasons 2 and 3, I try and fail, and try again to finish my film. Along the way, I adapt to being deaf and go behind the fence of Oak Ridge National Lab.  I hope you can identify in some way with my struggles and triumphs as I go after my dream.

I am passionate about this project because I have found fascinating stories to tell.  Real people do simple things that impact the nuclear world, making it more secure, cleaner and a lot less burdened with old Cold War nukes and animosities.By backing Three Threads you'll be forging a nuclear bond with our film team, and with other supporters.  Thanks for considering this project and many, many thanks for helping me bring the story from behind my own private fence into the public square.

FAQ

  • It is a story line or strand. We all have them! Think about how many strands weave through your own life: work, hobbies, pets, family, travel, temptations, traumas, triumphs. In this series, there are only 3 strands, but it's plenty to follow, without getting too bogged down in the daily grind!

  • In this project, a bond is a relationship, hopefully a friendship. And it is nuclear because it's connected to the main topic- the nuclear world (which we all share). So it's people connecting to other people at the grassroots level. How they bond and what those bonds mean... well, that's what we will find out in this project!

  • The filmmaker's approach is factual and hopefully not sentimental. The faith thread is integrated into the story through the main character's need for a cure from NF2 disease and deafness. So the goal is to communicate the reality of a person (Jesus), not the dogma of a religion. Viewers decide if that goal is attained.
