little app for shipping estimate

Hey Backers!

Very quick update today:

Estimate when your pen will ship...

We made a little application to estimate when your pen will ship.  We hope this helps out!

Email alert when pen ships...

We are also sending your email addresses over to our fulfillment company (Whiplash) so that you will be alerted when your pens ship.  Don't worry, Whiplash is great and won't spam, save, sell or do anything shady with your emails after this is all done!

Starting with the next shipment people will get emails with tracking info.

Don't forget to send your lovely drawings!

Everyone loves 'em!!!

If you'd like to submit a drawing :

Or if it is easier for you to email us: cwandt[at]cwandt[dot]com

Thanks everyone for being so patient with us.  It will be worth it once you are scribbling!!!

@Charles: Good one. I doubt I'll party. If the Mayans were right...

Thanks for that tools, that's great !
And it seems that my pens will be in the next batch. I already knew that, but it is nice to have a confirmation.

I'd like to know what the plans are going forward - are cw&t going to make this a going concern or just knock it on the head after they've fulfilled the Kickstarter orders?

If they are going to continue, what kind of rates and volumes are they looking to produce the pens at? What sort of sales estimates do they have? Has the Kickstarter campaign become the whole deal, or is it still being treated as the prototype stage to iron things out before moving on to a commercial operation (and if so, how will they get on from their correctness-by-inspection process being run out of their home/studio?).

I'd be intrigued to know how much of the Kickstarter cash cw&t have spent so far, what their margins are and how many pens they've sold (if any) at the $99 price point. Have they been able to make money from the half-price pens, will they definitely have enough cashflow to complete all of the Kickstarter orders?

Obviously, I don't expect to hear any of this, I'd just be interested to.

      oooh, John's is #1999.

When you get yours, are you going to... ahem... party like it's 1999?

    5. Peter on March 27, 2012

Woot! 948 left before I get mine...and I thought I backed this project late in the game.

    6. Nick Kinney on March 27, 2012

Everyone chill out. There were about 100x more pens ordered than they expected. The journey we've been on so far has been well worth the price of admission. The pens will come when they come... And with perfect quality too based on the dedication Che-Wei and Taylor have shown so far

Yes it is Ryan, Funded on 2011-07-28 with 1872 pens remaining.

CW&T, thanks for this tool. It is simple and effective; regardless of the confusion and complaints.

My name isn't listed in your estimator. What's up with that?

    9. star on March 27, 2012

This was the first project I funded on Kickstarter. 7 months later, I have funded 6 other projects and have only received one. It seems pretty standard that they take FOREVER to receive, but hopefully the products make it worth it. Only another 7 months of waiting and then I will find out!

My shipping name is not listed with your software. HELP! Max Houck

    11. Charlie Gibson on March 27, 2012

@MPJKennedy the date is August 10, 2011, the day you funded it. The app doesn't give a date estimate, it just shows how many pens are left before yours. In reality, the pens will most likely come long before August 10, 2012

    12. Ben Woolf on March 27, 2012

I guess I won't be keeping an eye out for the postman for a while! ;-)

*sigh* that was a bad start in the day... almost 1.200 pens befor mine. Glad that I do not really mind but it was not a very nice sight in the morning :-D

Hey - It's a great tool and better to know than to be expecting. However, mine says that shipment will take place on 10 August. That's one year from the time that this project was funded. I do want the pen, but if I was told at the time that it would take 1 year, there is no way that I would have signed up for it. Not good guys!

Ok, the app says that there are 3,729 pens to ship befor me. If I do the math with the number of backers, I get 5,391 pens that have been ordered. How many have already shipped and what sort of estimate is there for the remaining pens?

    16. Adrian Morgan on March 27, 2012

I'm wondering which I will get first, my Pen Type-A or my P1 :-)

    17. Guillaume Perras on March 26, 2012

      Ouuuhhh great tool!
1267 before mine.... not too bad! :)
I'm in no rush anyways, i just want this pen to be as perfect as possible.
      Thank you for your dedication!

    18. SCOTT LEAK on March 26, 2012

My shipping estimate says "shipped." It doesn't say how or when, nor did I get an email notice.

    19. Michael VanLandingham
      on March 26, 2012

Wow - the app shows 3514 pens to ship before mine. By that measure (400 every 20 days), I won't see a pen until a year after the project was funded. Ouch. Almost 6 months from now. Maybe I'll have forgotten about it by then and it'll just be a nice surprise.

I think 400 pens every 20 days IS with production having picked up :)

Cemil Kor on March 26, 2012

According to the past two updates, shipments average to 400 pens every 20 days. I've got 1604 pens left, so that's about 2.7 months. I am sure once the production picks up we'll see faster and bigger shipments :)

    22. James Inglis on March 26, 2012

We could get a better grasp on the ETA if you could give us a rough guide of how often you receive shipments of pens as well as quantities....

    23. cw&t 7-time creator on March 26, 2012

Sorry for the confusion! The app is meant to give you an idea of how many pens need to ship before you see yours. Yes, we know, this doesn't have a specific date attached to it, but as we ship out pens, that number will get smaller and smaller and smaller until one day yours arrives. woohoo! It is really just meant as a gauge. We wish we could give a definite date for everyone. But this is the best we can do right now.

    24. Ryan Sciandra on March 26, 2012

Yah, this doesn't really help us estimate when we will be receiving anything. Is the pens left the number that need to go out before I ever see mine?

I guess I will see mine around christmas 2012.

    25. The Forge on March 26, 2012

      I'm confused as well. "3906 Pens Left" = ??

    26. Todd Sherman on March 26, 2012

Thanks for the update. How does this app help me estimate when my pen will ship? It proved my order date which I know, plus an amount for "PENS LEFT". I do not get it - sorry.

    27. James Inglis on March 26, 2012

I know this is a bit of a stupid question , but is "Pens left" referring to the amount of pens to be shipped before mine ?
