Current E magazine Jan 2016 cover mock-up
Current E magazine Jan 2016 cover mock-up

Current E is the leading independent Formula E-focused media source, used by those within the Formula E paddock as the sport's go-to guide.

We've been charting the development of the all-electric motor racing series since March 2013, with a trackside team at every single race of the first season.

We've also supplied race photography and creative services to six of the 10 race teams, as well as to Formula E itself, which gives us incredible access throughout the pit lane.

In short, because we've been there since day one, we're known and trusted by those within and closely connected to Formula E to tell their stories, accurately and in detail. We love this sport.

Guess who’s back?

We launched our new quarterly publication in October 2015. The magazine was packed with exclusive interviews and stunning bespoke photography from Shiv Gohil and Dan Bathie.

The edition had particularly high production values (including gold foil application to the main coverline), and we took it with us to Beijing to get copies signed for as we’d promised in our Kickstarter pledges.

We’re now working on issue two, which will be out in January 2016. We’d like to keep the adverts as sparse as possible to give maximum editorial coverage, but that does mean we need as many people to pre-purchase a copy as possible, using Kickstarter.

As before, once the magazine is mailed, we won’t have facility to sell single copies, so this is your only chance to get your hands on the edition.

(We are working on an e-commerce function at the website to allow copies to be purchased after printing but, due to development costs, this is still some way off).

So what’s in issue two?

Lots of really cool stuff. The cover story is an indepth interview with the sport’s boss, Alejandro Agag. We take a look at the man behind the soundbites and reveal some explosive details about the how the sport is constructed and where it’s heading.

We’ve also got some top notch technical content, including exclusive drawings of Formula E season two powertrains, the first-ever look at the design of the Williams battery, race reports and interviews with the sport’s rookies.

There’s much, much more – but you’ll have to get hold of a copy to find out exactly what we have in store!

As always, we'll print the magazine on 100% recycled and recyclable paper, using waterless printing technology and power from 100% renewable sources.

The publication will also be available online, free of charge, though that doesn’t come close to just how good it is to hold the real deal in your hands.

Our goal is to hit print just after Christmas, which will put the magazine on your doorstep before the Buenos Aires race.

Your support will help make the second edition a reality.

Risks and challenges

Magazines are always risky. Time is the biggest challenge - interviewing, writing, designing and securing ads gobble time faster than a Formula E car uses up battery energy in a race.
However, our team has already proved with the Oct 2015 edition that we can put out a top quality publication. We already have ads booked in, too, so we reckon we have a good shout of getting this second issue off the ground. We do need your help to keep the magazine as advert-free as possible, however.
