At first glance, it might just look like a t-shirt, but it’s a whole lot more than that…
View it through our app (IOS, Android, Mobile, Tablets, Mobile VR) to unlock a portal into the body and transform the tee into an awesome learning experience. Explore the anatomy in fully animated 3D that lets you move in and look around the body.
And that’s pretty cool but we wanted to go a step further. The best way to learn is to experience something, so we're going to let you teleport inside the body.
And this works in 360 with your mobile or tablet but add a Virtual Reality headset and you can go one step further!
And all of this at a price point no higher than a high quality tee!
The app will be packed full of engaging experiences and facts about the body designed to get you excited about learning. The app is designed to get kids connecting with the body so that they are curious to learn more.
By understanding how the anatomy is relevant to us, we become healthier and we encourage the desire to engage with Science at a higher level. It's all too easy to forget that we are powered by a fragile, intricate set of systems.

What are you getting?
Every pledge level gets the product. The beauty of this technology is that it is accessible to everyone, right now.
The t-shirt is an ordinary tee, with a specific design that interacts with our app. And it goes in the wash just like any other tee.
To ensure that the animations and facts delivered within the app are correct, we are in discussion with a number of major health and education institutions and professors. We will ensure any release is verified by a third-party expert or institution.

This starts with The Virtuali-Tee, our first product on that journey.
This kind of tech has been around a while but there’s nobody creating truly compelling experiences with it, experiences that really create value for you. This is what we will change with this product and with Curiscope - we want mobile devices to elevate how we learn one step further.
We are going to use the existing devices we are already using all the time, to inspire the next generation and get them connecting with subjects they feel disengaged with.
Engagement driven curiosity drives learning and we are going to encourage kids to pursue learning outside of the classroom as well as in it. This technology allows us to create learning you can really connect with. Learning that's just like play, that’s exciting and fun.
We want the experience of learning to exist everywhere, not just in the classroom but also in the home. We want curious kids to find out what they love through getting the chance to experience it, to teleport wherever they want on virtual adventures.
The best way to learn is through interaction and experience, through doing, not just observing.
The Virtuali-Tee allows you to see the human body in situ and to understand why the anatomy is relevant to you. Diving into the body is an experience like never before.
We’ve been crafting exciting content for the last decade
We’re not new to this, we’ve been crafting experiences for the last decade. But we’ve decided to direct our talents to something we’re passionate about, inspiring the next generation. This project is the culmination of 6 months of (flat-out) work at Curiscope and the result of what’s cumulatively over 30 years of experience.
We know how to make engineering exciting, how to encourage imagination and how to re-imagine learning in Virtual Reality.
As a team we have numerous PROMAX awards and BAFTA nominations. Our VR work has been featured at Google Zeitgeist, at the Samsung EU Forum and has been watched millions of times on Youtube 360 and Samsung’s Milk VR.

We’ve been working with 3D all our lives, and we understand how to craft experiences in this space.
Where we are at right now
We’ve been testing prototypes since the beginning of this year. We’re on our third iteration of the design and we love it.
There’s still some way to go though and the design may change slightly. Whilst we develop and build the app, we may find that a slight design shift may help with performance. We will ensure that we keep the design in the same style as it is now - it's awesome!

This is where you come in
So why do we need Kickstarter if we've already got an awesome product that kids love? We don't want to be charging the earth for a t-shirt, we want that price to be as close as possible to the t-shirt you’d be buying anyway. To do that we need to sell in volume.
One of the problems with this kind of technology has been that the content is underdeveloped and the experience falls short. We don’t think experiences for kids should be in anyway held back, we want this app to be an experience with real value and longevity, full of interaction and exploration.
We know the right people to do this, they’re ready to go but we don’t want to limit them; we want to include all our ideas, and we’d love your suggestions too!
Your money will go directly into this product, funding the production of the t-shirt and the production of the experience. Any excess money we raise will either go towards making this product even better, or into future Curiscope productions, all designed with the goal of inspiring kids.
This is just the start, we’ve got big ambitions across all subjects and by backing this project you’re going to be helping Curiscope produce more of these experiences that get kids, and all of us, excited about learning.

We've got you covered. We know it can be a pain to have something shipped from another country so we will be shipping to US customers direct from a US distributor.
EU customers, we're a UK company so things will be less of a pain than they would be when purchasing from a US company. We are looking into EU suppliers and distribution - we will use those channels if it benefits you.
For everyone else we will seek to ship to you, although this may be at a higher cost. We will also consider an Asian distribution network should demand be high from the region.
It is our aim to develop the app to run on the widest range of devices possible. However, in order to deliver the best possible experience some older devices may not be compatible or may have a subpar experience.
You must be running: iOS 8.3+ and Android 4.4.4+

Risks and challenges
There’s always a risk that the product won’t be delivered on time so we’ve set our dates very generously. Fortunately for us we’re dealing with well explored supply chains.
We want to concentrate on making the experience as great as we possibly can, so we’re bringing in expert t-shirt suppliers who will craft a product of the highest calibre that maintains print quality for the entirety of its life. And we won’t just hand the project over, we’ll remain part of the fulfillment and quality control to ensure that the app interaction is as expected.
Medical Accuracy is of upmost importance. With the funding we will ensure that we bring on experts in medical animation and the anatomy. To ensure that the animations and facts delivered within the app are correct, we are in discussion with a number of major health and education institutions and professors. We will ensure any release is verified by a third-party expert or institution.
Quality of tracking is important and is something we have spent the last two months testing. We may need to make some further adjustments but we are confident that the style of the design will not change and any adjustments will be fairly subtle. We have the support of leading tracking engine Vuforia to ensure our tracking is quick and reliable.
Compatibility is a consideration. Please consult our compatibility list. We will ensure the app scales gracefully but we would recommend that it is used with latest generation phones and tablets.
Finally, we realise that a big part of our market will be in the US and we’re based in the UK. We’re sourcing suppliers where our market is and we’ll be out in the US during this campaign and during the quality control process to ensure we aren’t detached from our community there.
The Curiscope Team
We require a camera to enable augmented reality so we are targeting Mobile VR devices. It will work with the Mattel View-Master, Google Cardboard and with Samsung Gear VR.
Learning is of course better with others and it’s a lot of fun trying this out with parents, siblings and friends.
But for those times when nobody is around the app will work in the mirror or through selfie mode on your front-facing camera.
The white tee was one of our prototype designs and it worked but we found out that phone cameras in strong light often had a hard time exposing a predominantly white area. This reduced the performance of the product and was improved significantly by inverting the design and having a white tracker on a coloured t-shirt.
We had to test things first out in public though so a lot of the video was shot before we made the decision to change the colours. Anyway, we think it looks loads better and the t-shirt should look better for longer.
No. The app requires a specific code built into our design for the app to work.
Yes. Due to the nature of app store ecosystems, it makes more sense for us to bundle the effective cost of the app into the price of the t-shirt and develop a free app to interact with our design.
Whilst we have a prototype of the app, our aims with it are pretty epic. As such, this Kickstarter is to raise funds for the full, production-quality version of the app with extensive features and numerous virtual reality experiences.
The current app is a prototype to ensure technical functionality and we haven't yet involved experts. The final app we deliver will be independently fact checked for accuracy of animation and information.
