The day has arrived! You and your friends finally get to head to the pet shop and collect the pug puppies that have been waiting for you. But disaster! When you arrive the shop is overrun by demon dogs... by devil hounds... by... BEELZEPUGS!
Beware of the Beelzepug is a simple, fast-paced game for all ages. Players take turns to reveal face down cards, hoping not to reveal a Beelzepug. Too many Beelzepugs and you are out!
Each card features a unique pug and a special rule which changes the way the game is played.
These cards can also be used as a traditional set of playing cards.
The game begins once all the cards are shuffled and scattered face down onto the table. Each player chooses three cards at random and places them face down cards in front of them. These cards are referred to as ‘The Bench’ and act like lives for the game. Players then take it in turns to flip over one card from the remaining cards on the table, and follow the rule written upon it. If they are unlucky enough to reveal a Beelzepug then they lose one card from The Bench. The last player with remaining cards on their Bench wins. Games usually last anywhere from 5 to 35 minutes and gameplay is simple, yet tactical too.
Each pack of game cards comes with a booklet explaining the rules for the game. Alternatively, you can find an a4 version of the rules on our website
Each pack contains 54 cards, the rules booklet and that’s it! That's all you need to play. Multiple packs can be combined for larger games with more players, but it's not needed.
Most of our reward tiers include a copy of the game, but most also include more. Here are the details.
*Some terms and conditions. Obviously when working with me to create a pug name, info or new design I can't allow any gibberish or anything that could be offensive or hurtful in anyway This game is child friendly after all. Also, for the Name and Info rewards I have to bear in mind time. I have a responsibility to get the games to the other backers as quickly as possible. If you don’t respond, or if we can’t agree on something suitably appropriate within one month of the Kickstarter being funded, then I will fill this section with something of my own choosing just for this initial print to the Kickstarter backers. Finally, Pug Design may take a while. I will ship everything to you at once, but that does of course mean having to wait for me to have drawn a pug to your liking. I’ll be as quick as I can with that I promise as fulfilling rewards is my first priority.
Each reward tier of 'Beware of the Beelzepug' game cards will be boxed or sealed inside a padded envelope and delivered via the Royal Mail, to anywhere in the world. There are no difference in shipping cost between Single Game Pack rewards and Double Game Pack rewards. Sadly we cannot offer discounts on shipping when purchasing multiple reward tiers. Shipping costs are as follows:
I’ve come to Kickstarter for one reason: you. Usually I upload my games for free to my website. That way people can download them, print them, cut them out and play them at home. Obviously this costs me nothing more than the time it takes to make the games, and the fees to run the website.
However I’ve been getting requests for physical, professionally printed, boxed games. And so I turn to kickstarter to help raise the funds I need to achieve this. If this is any kind of success I’d love to return again to get one of my larger games printed too. Perhaps ‘How to Drink the Beer?’.
The other benefit of Kickstarter is the community. The support and help people are willing to give creators they loves is mind blowing to me. Making games is my passion, and while I only expect to break even after this Kickstarter, turning my passion into a full time career is my dream job.
My name is Bret Canny and after an accident a few years ago I was given the opportunity to reflect on my life, and what I wanted moving forward. I'd always made games for my friends as a hobby, but the thought of doing what I loved full time quickly overtook me. I began to explore ways of making my dream a reality, first through computer game design, then mobile apps, finally settling on card and board games design.
I put together a website, CuriousDreamerGames.Com, where the majority of games I’ve created are available to print and play for free.
Beware of the Beelzepug is the first game I’m having professionally printed and packaged. Your support will go toward fulfilling my dreams, and I honestly cannot express how much it means to me or ever thank my backers enough.
Much love, Molly the Dog and Bret ‘The Curious Dreamer’ Canny
Any project of this nature will have obstacles to overcome. Also, this is my first kickstarter project, and the first time I've asked for funding from the public to get a game published and delivered.
Fortunately the majority of the game is finished and ready to be sent to the printers. The main problems that may occur are:
Kickstarter - We’ll need to wait for information from our backers so they can be credited correctly in the included rules booklet, and for the funds to process before we can order the games to be printed. We’re hoping this will take no more than a month to complete.
The Printers - We’re ordering from MakePlayingCards.com. They have a great reputation, and I was very pleased with the quality of the demo cards I ordered from them. However, I’ll have little direct control over the manufacture of the cards so there isn’t much I can do if there are delays at this point.
Delivery - Each of our games will be delivered 1st Class via the Royal Mail to minimise the risk of problems with delivery. In all honesty, how long this takes will depend on how many copies I sell. In anticipation of being overwhelmed I've planned for this to take up to a month, though I expect it won't be as long as that before the games are with you.
If everything goes to plan, my expected timetable is as follows:
Risks and challenges
In reality, very little needs to be done before the games can be delivered to you. I believe my biggest problems will be delays. I will take any steps I can to meet my estimated deadline, but even if this cannot happen for some reason, I will still ensure a high quality of print for when the games do arrive, and I promise I will do everything in my power to get them to you as soon as possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
