About

From the creator of The Cult of Tarot Forum and The Cult of Weimar Tarot Deck

In the days before the printing press, passing on the world's knowledge was in the cramped and ink-stained hands of scribes toiling away in abbey scriptoriums.  The pages of the massive tomes they composed were "illuminated" by artists with decorative text and frames and beautiful illustrations.

Somehow despite the conditions they were able to bring a whimsy and delightfulness to the pages of these important books.

These are the images I chose to use to for The Friar's Delight Lenormand.

All 36 cards feature artwork taken directly from the pages of these centuries-old manuscripts. Each one has it's own unique authentic frame and is named using decorative letters from an actual manuscript.  The elements are assembled on a black background, (a modern touch) to set them off in a dramatic and clear way. The images "pop" for the reader and makes interpreting them a lively and immediate experience.

The 350-gram matte-finish card-stock is smooth and durable and shuffles beautifully.

The poker size cards (63mm x 88mm) are slightly larger than many petit Lenormand decks, and still a good size for the Grand Tableau.

A thin golden boarder meets the gilt edge of the cards to give you the feeling of those gilded treasures found in a medieval library.

Sturdy 2-piece box. This is the sample deck that arrived today (Aug 15th) Really pleased with how it turned out. Finished deck will also have gold edging.

The Friar's Delight comes in a sturdy, 2-piece, full-colour printed  box and includes a 12-page "Little-White-Book" to assist in your interpretations.

Each cards manages to convey the spirit and humour of the medieval artists. Their remarkable skills for communicating human experiences through illustration is what makes their work so perfect for reading with Lenormand.

For centuries scholars relied on these helpful drawings to make their task easier and more pleasant to accomplish. My hope is that you find this deck does the same for you and illuminates your Lenormand readings for years to come.

Risks and challenges

The deck is completely finished now, as is the box and booklet. Once the funding comes through they will be off to the printer immediately, so no design delays.

This is my second deck and I am working with a different printer this time. They come highly recommended and have been really delightful and responsive to work with. They work on a very professional level and are helping me to bring my deck up to the highest standards possible. So despite it being my first experience with them, I am very confident this is going to go smoothly.

I am also using a company who works with my printer to package and ship all the orders. Doing it this way saves a considerable amount in shipping costs for everyone but it's my first time working with them. They also come highly recommended by deck creators I have spoken to and I have myself ordered and received decks that were shipped by this company. They have also been very helpful and responsive to me.
Worst case is I have the decks shipped to me for sending out myself, however it is highly doubtful it will come to that.

I would like to add that as the founder and curator of the Cult of Tarot Forum, I am well acquainted on a daily basis with the expectations of deck users and collectors. I have a clear understanding of the what people are looking for in regards to quality, delivery and responsiveness. I think I have a very unique perspective on these issues and how to meet those expectations.
