Yesterday, he died of a drug overdose in a filthy New York City back-alley. Today, he awoke in the City Morgue with no real memory of who he is or how he got there. He only knows his name thanks to the toe tag he’s wearing.
Slipping out into the night, Hunter wanders the city, clad in clothing he gathered from a dumpster. He may not know anything about himself, but he instinctively knows every corner of the teeming metropolis.
And the city seems to know him.
Traffic flow seems to naturally break when he wants to cross the street. No door is locked to him, no metal gate sealed shut. When he runs into trouble (which happens quite a bit) the city seems to help him in some way.
But there are others who know him, too, or at least they think they do.
The Wide-Eyed Three is a group of conspiracy theory nutjobs who have been exiled from society—for good reason. When they learn of Hunter’s miraculous return from the dead, they think they’ve found their ticket to redemption. And if they have to kill Hunter again and again to prove their wild theories, that’s what they’ll do!
Hunter’s not a bad guy, but he has a secret.
And that secret is a killer.
METRO is a 122-page (very) dark urban fantasy graphic novel. Set in New York City, this is a violent, chaotic story with good amounts of mayhem, carnage, and humor. It is also a story of magic and wonder, exploring the nature of the sprawling cities we call our homes. As Hunter awakens into the hidden and unfamiliar world that exists alongside our owns, he learns what it means to be a normal human… starting with the idea that there is no such thing as normal.
The cover for METRO will be drawn by the the amazing Francesco Francavilla!

We have been developing this first METRO story for some time now. Along the way, we have talked to numerous publishers about the project. As we drew ever-closer to finishing the book, though, we realized that the right approach for a book like this was to publish it ourselves. By releasing this book on our own, we maintain complete control of the content, and this is a book that pulls no punches and, frankly, scared the Hell out of some of the editors we talked to.
Now, we can bring you this story exactly the way we wanted to--in all its messed-up glory.
Kickstarter allows us to create comic books for the joy of creating graphic novels and give our backers and supporters something unique and exciting. We love that a Kickstarter campaign lets us communicate and interact with our readers along the way.
All interior artwork for METRO is complete, and the graphic novel is going through final lettering and design. This graphic novel tells a complete tale, while introducing a vivid mythology and world ripe for exploration. Brian, Walt, and Cullen have already started working on a new graphic novel set in the world of METRO. This campaign will help us judge if there is interest in the next book!
Proceeds from this campaign will go toward creative costs and printing.
We're keeping the reward levels fairly simple on this campaign. We are releasing a digital version of METRO ($10), a trade paperback version ($25), and a limited edition hardcover version ($50). If you just want to show a little support for the project, you can pledge at the $1 or $5 levels. We also have a few special reward levels, some featuring original art pages from the book or mystery boxes full of Cullen's comics! We haven't forgotten retailers who might want to support the book! We have a reward level to help you stock your shelves with Metro!

Risks and challenges
When it comes to producing this comic, I've done quite a bit of research about comics on Kickstarter. Brian and Walt have run several successful campaigns, and we have partnered with experts in book production and deliver.
Brian, Walt, and I did not want to launch this Kickstarter until the vast majority of the work was done. I'm happy to report that ALL of the artwork for this graphic novel is completed, and the book is being lettered as this campaign runs.
This means that we will be delivering this book very quickly. Digital versions of the book will deliver to backers almost as soon as the campaign funds (we'll need just a little time to finalize the "Thank You" page), and the book will be sent to the printer for hard copy production immediately.
Our primary goal is getting this book into the hands of our readers, so we're focusing on that! We have a team ready to manage the logistics of shipping the books out as soon as they are ready to go!
We're teaming with one of the biggest and best crowdfunding companies in the industry: BackerKit. Through BackerKit we'll easily be able to manage add-ons, surveys, address changes, and fulfillment.
