THE FRANKENSTEIN WARS: THE GAMEBOOK OF THE (19th) CENTURY
"The Frankenstein Wars is the dream project I've been waiting to do for over a decade. It's a true interactive blockbuster that weaves the lives of our heroes and villains against a backdrop of hellish war with the soul of humanity at stake." - Dave Morris

Even if you're a fan of gamebook apps, you've never seen an interactive blockbuster like this. It's gameplay-meets-story with the sweep and scale of a whole alternate-history universe. And with your help this is only the beginning.

SUMMARY
Tom and Anton Clerval have long guarded the secret to Victor Frankenstein's resurrection technology. In revolutionary France, in 1827, that secret at last comes to light. The radical Zeroiste movement creates an army of the reanimated dead to seize control of the country, and then to cross the Channel to strike at the heart of the British Empire. Only Tom and Anton have the power to halt the Zeroistes - or to stoke the flames of all-out war. Decide the fate of the world in this enhanced interactive adventure in the same vein as classic series such as Fighting Fantasy or Choose Your Own Adventure.

"Now, with writer Paul Gresty, artist Rafa Teruel, and the awesome design and code talents of the Cubus Games guys, we have finally assembled the team to do justice to such an epic story. All it needs is the spark of life that you can supply." - Dave Morris

This story has been conceived and designed by Dave Morris, a British author and game designer. Dave has written dozens of gamebooks and role-playing games, including classics such as Fabled Lands, Blood Sword, Dragon Warriors and Virtual Reality Adventures. His award-winning 2012 interactive adaptation of Frankenstein reached number 2 in the book app charts, and was rated by The Sunday Times as 'One of the top ten book apps ever'.

Paul Gresty, lead writer of The Frankenstein Wars, has extensive experience creating interactive fiction and role-playing games. Most notably, he has written the Kickstarter-funded gamebook Arcana Agency: the Thief of Memories, as well as the interactive novel The ORPHEUS Ruse. He is currently working on a second interactive novel, MetaHuman Inc., and he is lead writer of the long-awaited continuation of the Fabled Lands series, The Serpent King's Domain.

Rafater (Rafa Teruel) is a young but experienced illustrator and concept artist from Girona . His portfolio includes clients such as Games Workshop, Norma Editorial, Applibot or Ballistic Publishing. He has 2 artbooks published: Nightmare Dark Gods (2014, Norma Editorial) and "EROS. The sexiest art of Rafater" (2013, Ediciones Babylon). He is currently working for Games Workshop as freelance artist and he is preparing new content for several upcoming artbooks.

How to bring the greatness of the Victorian era and the revolutionary France to the 21st century? Here you have one of the clues by Rafater!

We all know what this original idea means to Dave Morris, and the lots of hard work and research he did to bring The Frankenstein Wars 'to life', so we decided that the project didn’t deserve to be kept in a laboratory box with a lid on.
That’s why we decided to start a Kickstarter campaign: we truly believe that such a great story must be developed with great writers and artists and shared with everyone who enjoys to be immersed in a good story and/or game, the interactive fiction, the Victorian era, the revolutionary France, or simply anyone who enjoys literary classics’ essence combined with gaming, historical twists and amazing artwork. We want you to take part into something really special.

Risks and challenges
Gamebook development is an unforgiving taskmaster, with time and financial limitations often providing unexpected challenges that can ultimately lead to changes and delays. Fortunately, the Cubus Games team has collectively been involved in 4 gamebook app developments and has short but intense expertise in this kind of interactive fiction games specifically.
We’re very confident we can deliver a gamebook that lives up to fan expectations, on time and on budget. Why? Because we work with passionate and talented people from Barcelona, London and Paris. It’s a very powerful team!
We’ve chosen mainly digital rewards to avoid the higher costs and risks of shipments. However, there are some physical rewards that are very special, aiming to deliver great experiences and feelings to backers.
The more the project goes well, the more we’ll be able to add new interesting goodies in the backed pledges!
We are aware we risk a delay in collecting the names and photographs for the special thank-you page in the web and app (Supporters' page), Honour Regiment, in-game illustrations and cover. The promptness of finalizing these all depends on your fellow supporters. To mitigate this risk and ensure prompt responses, we will send a simple questionnaire to every supporter immediately following a successful funding.
