Who is Lovecraft? Cthulhu Mythos game for 78th Anniversary
Be the first player to complete the Mythos in a fun game with more than 100 cards, 2-4 players and collector pieces.
About the game
"Who is Lovecraft?" is a tribute to our favourite author on his 78th anniversary. Only one player will prove to be the real Lovecraft by creating the Cthulhu Mythos using cards. An entertaining game that is easy to learn and which can be played with friends or family.
There are some bundle options below if you want more games.
Details of the cards and resin pieces:
Each game card represents an idea for a story: a creature, a character, a place, an event... In the game there are 8 unique stories, and you must "write" these stories using your cards to show that you are the authentic Lovecraft.
The game has different rounds.
A round’s aim is decided by a roll of the dice: sometimes you only have to get one story to win the round, sometimes two, sometimes three. However you always start to play with only five cards, so you will need more cards to complete the stories, but beware, once you get them you will have to get rid of all the ones you have left! You will need to decide on your strategy!
Each card has a unique power, represented by its top icon. This power enables you to get additional cards, miss your turn; take cards from an opponent or to get rid of your own cards. You will use the powers depending on your strategy, the game’s progress and the aim of the round.
A round ends when a player meets the defined aim and manages to dispose of their remaining cards. The winner will mark their stories on the board and the losers lose sanity points for the cards remaining in their hand.
The first player who completes the eight stories on their board will be declared the true Lovecraft and win the game!
A game lasts approximately 60 minutes and is for 2 to 4 players. There will also be a fast-play method for 20-minute games.
As with our previous projects, we ship internationally, to both the USA and Europe as well as the rest of the world.
We usually try to ship rewards in backer order.
In this section you will find new Stretch Goals as the project grows. Help us to spread it and the product will become better every time.
Stretch Goals will be announced in an update if we reach the campaign’s Goal, and will be included here.
Some Stretch Goals are designed to improve the game and add exclusive content. Others will reveal mysterious products that we have prepared for this anniversary!
Cthulhu Project was born on Lovecraft’s 75th anniversary to share his work and create products and services for fans of other cultists. We already publish Lovecraft news on the web and offer the Cthulhu Shop as a guide to buying Lovecraftian items. More recently we successfully completed the design and production of the Secret Idol and Cthulhu Talking Board collectables. The aim is to continue creating games and unique products based on the wonderful Lovecraftian universe... but this will only be possible with your help!
Resin pieces by Teptec Studios
The resin pieces are made by the talented artist Daniel Ritthanondh of Teptec Studios. All the resin pieces are produced in Germany by the artist so you can expect the same high quality of the Talking Board planchettes or the Secret idol.
Previous products on Kickstarter
We have successfully created, produced and shipped products from Kickstarter before, so we have experienced all phases of the campaign and our estimates are quite accurate. Take a look at our Secret Idol or Cthulhu Talking Board projects to see.
Risks and challenges
We have successfully created, produced and shipped other products, so we have experienced all the delicate stages of a campaign, from the original idea to delivery of the final product. We will produce the game in Europe, where we achieve high quality and avoid delays that often occur when working with other countries. From here we have complete control over all phases of production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
