The 125th anniversary of the birth of HP Lovecraft is ending, and we don't want to say goodbye to this special event without giving a tribute with this awesome Cthulhu Idol.
And it comes with "The Writer" a playing cards game that we currently have in production, and we take this opportunity to increase the print run of the game for those fans who missed the original campaign.
On The Writer, only one player will prove to be Lovecraft by publishing the Cthulhu Mythos books using cards. Use the cards abilities to reach your goal and complete your Library Card without losing your points to win the game.
The idol is 145x85x95mm and has been scuplted by the talented artist Marty of Monster Box, it's hand casted and hand painted. The idol will be numbered at the bottom.
First units will be produced in January and delivered by backer order.

The Writer game was funded by our backers on July, and it's currently in production. Some people has been asking for a chance to get this game after the campaign, and now is the time. We can still produce more units for those who missed our previous campaign, and now you can get it with the commemorative idol too.
The game comes with 96 Story Cards (a 48 cards deck x2), 6 Necronomicon cards, 4 Library cards, 4 Counter cards, 32 counters, 4 colored pawns, a custom Cthulhu dice and the rulebook.
→ 2-4 players (up to 8 players with 2 games)
→ 60' for a full game, 20' for quick mode (single round to get 3 stories)
How to play
Use the cards abilities to reach your goal and complete your Library Card without losing your points to win the game.
Each card represents part of a story. In the game there are 8 unique stories represented by a color and symbol. You can complete a story by getting 5 cards with the same symbol.
The game has different rounds. The round's aim is decided rolling the die (to get one story, 2 or 3 stories). However you always start to play with only five cards, so you will need more cards to complete the stories, but beware, once you get them you will have to get rid of all the ones you have left! You will need to decide on your strategy!
Each card has a unique ability, represented by its top icon. This ability enables you to get additional cards; to repeat your turn; to take cards from the discard pile or to get rid of your own cards. You will use the abilities depending on your strategy, the game’s progress and the aim of the round.
A round ends when a player meets the defined aim and manages to dispose of their remaining cards. The winner will mark their stories on the library card and the losers lose sanity points for the cards remaining in their hand.
The first player who completes the eight stories on their Library Card will be declared the true Writer and win the game!
A game lasts approximately 60 minutes and is for 2 to 4 players. You can also play a fast-play method for 20-minute games (play a single round to get 3 stories), or you can combine two games to play up to 8 players.
As with our previous projects, we ship internationally, to both the USA (12€/$12.7) and Europe (9€) as well as the rest of the world (14€) (+3€ for overweight on combined items). As usual, we assume part of the real cost of international shipping.
There's a new pack available for collectors, the Commemorative Idol with a handmade wooden box, and it comes with the original "Collector Edition" and the awesome "Mythos Altar" created by Teptec Studios for the original project. These items were produced for the last project backers but there are 3 units still available for newcommers:

We already publish Lovecraft news on the web and offer the Cthulhu Shop as a guide to find Lovecraftian stuff. More recently we successfully completed the design and production of the Secret Idol, Cthulhu Talking Board and Arkham Parade. The aim is to continue creating games and unique products based on the wonderful Lovecraftian universe... we can do it with your help!

Previous products on Kickstarter
We have successfully created, produced and shipped products from Kickstarter before, so we have experienced all phases of the campaign. Take a look at our Secret Idol, the Cthulhu Talking Board or Where's Cthulhu: Arkham Parade projects to see.
Risks and challenges
We have successfully created, produced and shipped other products, so we have experienced all the delicate stages of a campaign, from the original idea to delivery of the final product.
The commemorative idol is ready to start working on new moulds, casting and painting. We will split the rewards on different batches to avoid exceeding our production capacity for hand made items.
The Writer game was funded by our backers some months ago, we have been working for a long time designing and testing the game, choosing the best components, and we are right now in production; we only need to increase the final quantity for this campaign.
We are currently printing the game in Europe, where we achieve high quality and avoid delays that often occur when working with other countries. From here we have complete control over all phases of production. We will start casting and painting the idol as soon as the campaign gets funded.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
