House of Possession is a new take on the race board game. Move through the rooms, collect exits, and avoid possession to escape first.
You thought the evening would be a calm and relaxing end to your week. After all, you have visited your wealthy friend’s Victorian era mansion for dinner parties before. But when the strange, otherworldly voice began to emanate from your host, you instantly knew that you should have stayed home.
The demon possessing your friend issues a simple challenge, escape the house and get off the property to live the rest of your life unharmed. The catch, of course, is that only one of you will be allowed to leave. The rest will remain in the house as the food and playthings of demons for all eternity.
- HoP is a Primer game that lasts 2 – 15 minutes per game,
- Plays 2 – 6 players,
- Avoid possession and collect exits as you move through the house,
- Characters have Desperate Acts to help them gain the upper hand,
- First player to gather 10 exits wins!
House of Possession is Crypt Monkey’s latest primer game. Two to six players go head-to-head in quick games that last only two to fifteen minutes long.
During your turn, you will move your character to a random room in the house and each player will draw from the Escape Deck. The Escape Deck is where you will collect Exits and Boons, unless you are Possessed.
Throughout the game, playing some Exits or landing in the same room as the Haunt Token will cause you to draw a card from the Possession Deck. The events in the Possession Deck are trying to possess players and slow down your escape. A Possessed player cannot draw from the Escape Deck, so this prevents you a turn to gain more Exits and Boons.
Each Exit has a point value but you must be careful of when you play an Exit, these can be removed or stolen from your play area. Boons help to improve and fortify your Exits as long as they carry the same material, Wood or Metal, as the Exit you attach the Boon to. There are two kinds of Boons, Tools and Protection. Tools carry an additional point value that help to get you that much closer to escaping. Protection Boons help to prevent your Exits from being removed from your play area.
Each player has a character with a unique set of abilities called Desperate Acts. These Desperate Acts will help you get ahead of the other players. Remember, you don’t have to be faster than the demons that hunt you, you just have to be faster than your opponents.
The first player to end their turn with 10 or more Exit points wins the game.
The game is done!
We have completed testing and designed our cards and packaging. We also have the great honor and privilege to have worked with an outstanding Artist, Alejandro Castillo. So, the artwork for the base game is all done too! We do have other potential artwork planned, depending on stretch goals that we may reach.
So what’s left? We just need you to tell us how much you like our idea. With your support, we will be able to pump the last 1.21 gigawatts into this monster and bring it to life. Risks and challenges
We are happy to say that this is not our first Kickstarter Adventure. With the help of our amazing backers, we were able to release that dark force, Jack the Ripper, into the world. We were also able to get our rewards to backers several months ahead of schedule.
Even with that wonderful story in our experience, there are always challenges and roadblocks that can interfere with speedy manufacturing and delivery. To avoid as many delays as we can, we have worked closely with our manufacturers so that we can understand the capabilities and turnaround times required. We also have quotes in from multiple printing companies, so we are ready for all quantities.
Though there could be unforeseen delays in production and our estimates are only estimates, we don’t see any issues in meeting our carefully planned pledge rewards at this time. And if our planning is eroded by production or shipping issues, rest assured, we will notify our backers right away, so you will be quickly aware of any delays.
