After suffering a loss, Eve searches for purpose in death. With the help of Trevor, she goes on a journey for the truth. But The Ones in Charge have other plans for them.
Trevor Barnes, a host of the conspiracy radio show, “Eyes to the Skies,” is a well-known leader of the cryptozoology community. Eve Fallon, a nurse to terminally ill children, is a true believer. Every day, she avoids the pain of death by escaping into the world of Trevor’s show. She finds faith in knowing there’s something better out there.
Eve forces her way into Trevor’s off-air life and the two take on a crazy conspiracy - Eve determined to prove it’s true. When looking at a chain of famous deaths around the world, the two discover a mysterious pattern. The deaths are connected… they’re planned, plotted, throughout space and time. This must be the gods and monsters puppeteering human’s lives.
This campaign is to fund the first season of Cryptids. The show will be a scripted seasonal anthology with a new monster each season. Season one… aliens, lunar anomalies, the almighty Thoth, and… that strange creature who roams the woods of Pittsburgh...
EVE FALLON: After having to hold many a hand of a dying child, Eve has discovered her true life’s calling is not to ease the pain of suffering of others but to end it completely.
TREVOR BARNES: Trevor is searching for proof that life has meaning and is willing to look anywhere to find the truth.
DR. THOMAS OTT: The mysterious and elusive ex-NASA specialist and foremost expert on lunar anomalies. And, as we soon come to find, he is the human form of the moon god, Thoth.
SESHAT: Thoth’s second in command and avid student of human behavior.
IN ORDER OF EXPENSE:
ACTORS: the many beautiful voices that will bring the story to life.
SOUND DESIGN: the world of Cryptids coming to life through sound effects, ambience, and dialog clean up.
INSURANCE: making sure your money and our talent are safe.
MARKETING: the more audiences that hear Cryptids, the more successful it will be (and the more bragging rights you have to say you were a part of it from the beginning).
As the world grows darker, more and more of us lose hope. Most turn to God and religion. But what is religion but a steady faith in something that would otherwise seem impossible? The proof that the impossible is real could bring us back to hope, could guide us to light. All we need is the belief that something better is out there.
So, who is to say that something better isn’t Sasquatch or Mothman? Belief in such creatures constitutes a faith just as nuanced and unprovable as any religion. Let’s call it what it is - a monster hunt. The search for meaning in a universe indifferent to our existence - or is it? We may not like what we find, but whatever it is, it will be real.
Over the course of the season, you will travel alongside Eve and Trevor on their monster hunt. Together, you will question your purpose and test your faith in the greater impossible. When you listen, you will be transported much like in the way of the thrilling podcasts HOMECOMING or THE BLACK TAPES with call backs to the great old time radio shows LIGHTS OUT and QUIET PLEASE. The story will be an eerie mystery like that of Netflix’s DARK, with spouts of comedy that may remind you of the BBC’s THE HITCHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY and Drew Goddard's CABIN IN THE WOODS. And of course, you'll be reminded of Art Bell's and George Noory's great radio show COAST TO COAST.
Risks and challenges
For any podcast, the largest risk is not being heard. This is why we need YOU. This podcast will only be successful if you share, tweet, gram, etc. Spread the word!
Completing the project is also always a risk. However with Cryptids, we are lucky to have all elements in place to ensure its completion. Through partnerships with IFP and Made in NY, we have received a free recording studio. And, we have the first two episodes of the first season already completed! Proving that no matter what we will publish the show and we can follow this through until the end.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
