About

Crisis - Survival of the Fittest is an adventure game with a fitness profile. It’s a strategy game taking place right after a meteor hit earth and ended civilisation as we know it, and a real life explorer game connected to the strategy part.

The game works lika a motivator and personal trainer for you to live an active lifestyle, but without you noticing you're actually exercising. It also makes your walks and runs more fun, adding an adventurous explorers touch to them.

A city builder and an adventure mode merged into one awesome game.

--------------

You are one of the survivors. You must fight to regain your strength and rebuild a working community. This is done by getting outside in real life and get walking or running. As you find your way forward you run into findings that can be used to build your base camp into a flourishing village, strengthen its defense and take in friendly people. Later in the game you can also raid other peoples villages for food and building material.

Keep track of your distance traveled, calories burnt and objects gathered. Set up daily step goals and get achievments and in game props when you reach them. Look for friends, and raid your enemies on your quest to build a new kingdom on planet Earth. Post apocalyptic style!

Now it’s up to you to rebuild and recover, while getting in shape in real life! It should be fun to get in shape and stay that way!

--------------

Where are we right now? We have the strategy mode set up and working, we have a great start for the pvp part where you can raid other players. We also have an alpha version of the explorer mode in place where you go out and find stuff and then use augmented reality to put them in your backpack. This gives the scavenge hunt a nice reality like touch.

Use AR to put stuff in your backpack.
Use AR to put stuff in your backpack.

We also have a lot of artwork, icons etc ready made.

We modell each building in 3D and then render them out in 2D style. Since we want the game to motivate and make you happy even though it's the end of the world we strive for a toyish playful style with lots of colours. Take a look at one of the buildings in the game. You can twist and turn it which ever way you like.

We planned the game so that it's not dependent on your specific location - so when you head out on a walk or a run you can go pretty much anywhere and find stuff, even if you live in the middle of nowhere. Real time tracking generates your position on the in game map as you're walking. We also added a speed limit.

Right now we are tweaking all the functions in the city builder part to the max, making sure we get a good game balance. We have a total of 10 levels you can reach, with lots of building options and different functions adding up in the game as you proceed.

--------------

Did you know you need to walk 10 000 steps a day for your body and mind to feel good? 12 000 if you drink two cans of soda each day. To walk all those steps many of us need a little motivation. We want to make a game where those steps don't even feel like exercising, it should just feel like when you were a little kid out exploring the world. You didn't count steps, you just had fun walking them.

We have a list of fitness and gaming features we want to add to make the game extra awesome and reach that goal. But our budget is scarce and we (the two of us in house) need to focus on the core functions of the game. We need help from someone outside to set up servers, program the multiplayer parts and develop it as a service so you can use the keylock on your phone while playing. All these stuff need different programming language skills that we today lack. So to speed up the development for the game to be released this summer we need a little help from you guys!

We want to add stuff like:

- First and foremost we want to get all the multiplayer functions in place. Player should be able to team up with other players competing against other teams in different challenges, eg: First team to reach the meteor wins, who can hide the destroyer blueprint at the end of the world (all performed by going out in real life walking and/or running).

- We want a mission center building where you can receive missions that you perform in real life, and we want this connected to the walk mode. This will be the personal trainer on top of the players lust for a daily adventure to make sure you get up and go out.

One of the items you can find when out walking IRL. When you pick it up it unlocks the bomb in the city builder shop. So when you head back to the city builder mode you can build a bomb to strengthen your village defense.

- Are you more of a gym person? Don't worry. We'll strive to add a gym mode.

- We want moooore statistics for the fitness oriented who wants to keep track on their health on a detailed basis. And we want it presented in easily read graphs and charts.

- We want to get the pvp part done so that you can raid other players for resources. This gives the game some more game time when you're in couch mode.

The in game backpack we plan to use in the AR mode where you store your findings on your travels.

 - We want lots and lots of items to be found. There are many, but we want more. It should always be a successful scavenger hunt!

- We want to find beta testers that can evaluate the game, and set up a forum where we can gather all the important information that these find, and all of their useful tips and request. The more beta testers, the better!

And all of this can't be done in a reasonable amount of time without your help :(. We want to keep our new years eve promise and actually start exercising more regularly this year. Beach 2018 - with your help - here we come!

We promise to make good use of your funding. If we exceed our funding goal we will use that money for developing even more functions and content - and to make sure there are enough people playing the game on release - all so that you get the perfect gaming experience.

--------------

We are two sisters devoted to the gaming industry, who sadly doesn't love exercising as much as soda, computers and yummy food. But we want to love exercising. That is how we came up with the idea. Each of us have jobs with a high demand for daily creativity, but also jobs where we just sit by the computer every day. This is not a good combination. So we thought: Why not do something about it? And here we are. Doing something about it.

Felicia Westergren: 3D artist, also educated in digital and traditional art. During the day Felicia works as a 3D graphic design artist for an architectural visualization company. At evenings and weekends she's working on the design for the game. She is the one doing all of the visuals for the game. Every building and character is first made as a 3D model in 3DS Max and Zbrush, then rendered out and handpainted in Photoshop.

Elina Blom Westergren: Writer and programmer, educated in journalism and also works as a freelance journalist during daytime. She has made a couple of apps before, among them HundSverige which made it to top five in the swedish App Stores navigation category. She takes care of a lot of the programming and Unity work needed, but also all the planning going into the game. Stuff like what purpose each building has, what to find during the walks, the different missions, plot lines and dialogues.

Both are dedicated to the game industry since little. Growing up with games like Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong and Prince of Persia. Today we love games with a great story, like Zelda (duh). But also mobile games like Machinarium, or just blowing of some steam in the console version of Battlefield.
