The name 2048 refers to the special screen that is used for this game console. The screen is made of 2048 individual LED bulbs that are placed in a matrix form. The brightness, range of colours and 64 x 32 resolution provides a very attractive platform for you to create your own retro-style video games and other visuals.
Creoqode development board uses an Atmega 2560 R3 chip as the processor. The pins of the development board are specifically designed for 2048 and allow an easy plug-and-play platform for creativity. Creoqode gives users a complete freedom as any type of sensor could be plugged into 2048. For instance, it can be used as a custom music visualiser by using a sound sensor, or even be converted into a remote control for a drone.
2048 is a great chance to learn about hardware. Creoqode allows users to understand the working principles of a game console's components and encourages them to find new ways to customise their 2048 by adding new sensors and gadgets. Extensive knowledge about electronic devices will be gained in an enjoyable way. 2048 is ideal for users who are eager to create their own custom game console.
Creoqode 2048 is compatible with both Windows and Mac, and it uses Arduino IDE software as the programming platform, which is one the easiest ways to communicate with the hardware. Users will easily adapt to the game console regardless of their level of experience. Both new learners and experienced programmers will be creating their own first video game in just a couple of hours. Tutorials and booklets are provided to make users' experience smoother and more fun.
2048 is a great way for beginners to learn about programming algorithms. Thanks to the LED matrix screen, prior graphics knowledge is not needed. Users will be able to code based on three variables: the coordinates, the colour, and the illumination duration of an individual LED bulb.
Creoqode 2048 is a game console which is an entertaining and easy way to learn for amateur coders, and an unrestricted way to exercise their knowledge for the pros. Once users start working on 2048, it will be impossible to take a break.
Soon after the launch of 2048, a platform called "Qode Share" will go live for the Creoqode community, whereby users can share the codes and video games they have created. Furthermore, they will be given the opportunity to sell their video games on Qode Share. The ability to upload and download video games and visuals for 2048 will be very beneficial and helpful for the users.
As the Creoqode community grows, it will be possible to organise tournaments and other championships based on the video games that are shared. The video game that you create might become the most popular game on Qode Share, gaining a fan base globally.
Creoqode 2048 comes in two different versions:
- DIY (do-it-yourself)
- RTG (ready-to-go)
DIY is an all inclusive kit for users who are eager to learn about the hardware and the working principles of a game console's components. It is a great opportunity for users to improve their hardware skills without the need for any additional tools for assembly. Booklets and manuals are provided to guide users through the whole assembly process.
RTG is a pre-assembled kit for those who want to start coding immediately.
Risks and challenges
As the founder of Creoqode, I believe there are two challenges that might come with completing the project. Firstly, as I will be shipping the product globally the taxation and regulations will be different across the globe which might cause some minor delays. However, my team has extensively researched global delivery of Creoqode 2048 in order to preempt any challenges we may face. Additionally, we have set the delivery date as December 2016 leaving us plenty of time to ensure on-time delivery.
Secondly, after the delivery of the item some users might have questions regarding technical aspects of the product, which the Creoqode team and I will be able to answer. In addition to the two electrical engineers and three programmers in our customer service, I will be assisting our customers as I have a strong technical background gained throughout my career and BSc and MSc engineering degrees from Cranfield University, UK.
