"Mors ultima ratio", translation - Death is the final accounting!
Yet he is also a fun-loving guy! He likes to dance, loves to bake, owns many kittens and treasures long walks down tropical beaches with his Scythe in hand. Now is your chance to show him your love and support!
I am pleased to welcome you to my SKULLS project! Hot on the heels of my Pigs vs Cows adventure, we are ready to add yet another theme to the collection.
These professionally crafted and beautifully produced custom skulls are a perfect blend of detail and realism. Many, many prototypes were attempted and rejected to find the right balance of art and engineering at this scale. All of the skulls are created via Injection Molded ABS Plastic ( the same technique, colors and materials used in toy brick systems )
The base set of SKULLS heads includes (8) pieces;
(1) Anonymous Mask
(3) Standard-sized heads
(2) Small-sized heads
(2) Small-sized heads with a stud on the top (fits a Cowl and many head accessories...)
Any appropriate STRETCH GOALS will add to the makeup of this base set!
I have a bunch of fun stretch goals that we can shoot for! YOU BET!
Custom LIMITED-EDITIONS BrickArms SKULLS Crate! Using a cutting-edge process the Skulls actually feel like they are popping out of the sides of the crate. A very special collectible offered to sponsors of the campaign.
Here is a video of the crate to better illustrate the special 3-D nature of the design
Sets will be injection-molded in one of TWO basic colors. Ivory ( white) and Bone ( tan ). For each set pledged, you can choose a color. Since the heads are run in complete batches, all the colors in a given run will be the same; hence, no mixing and matching of color choices. Although if you have pledged for multiple sets, you may choose a particular color for each set/group pledged for.
CAN I CHOOSE SPECIFIC HEADS?
Sets all come with the same heads (in the same color).
WILL THE HEADS INCLUDE PRINTED DETAILS?
To keep down costs and encourage customization, no plans are presently being made for printing on the heads.
WHY ARE THE HEADS COMING IN TWO DIFFERENT SCALES?
I have found that the STANDARD heads are perfect for some applications while the SMALL-scale heads are better for others. Rather than restrict your choices, you get two different scales to work with. The variations look great next to one another and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, one of them fits a cowl! ( no... not 'COW' that was the OTHER campaign...) I said 'COWL.'

HOW DO YOU MAKE SKULLS LIKE THIS?
A long process of digital sculpture in various CAD and art programs is done to create the initial art. Many weeks of refining and direction are used to find the perfect balance of aesthetics and engineering. Real-world prototypes are created from these digital art files and these are then evaluated to make sure they are going to fit the proportions and style of the figure. It takes a long time, but the nice part is that I have already completed this aspect of the project! What remains is to finance the expensive process of machining the steel injection mold tooling followed by the tuning of the production process to create the actual skulls via injection molded plastic. This is the same high quality ABS material and colors used in popular brick products.
HOW QUICKLY CAN I GET THESE?!?!
Unlike the Pigs vs Cows project, I don't have a hard deadline ( like a convention date ) that I have to deliver by, so it will allow me to fully refine the mold process and tolerances. These heads will be flawless and fit exactly how they are supposed to! It might take a little time to perfect, but I will keep you updated with each milestone and each bit of exciting production news. ( see my Pigs vs Cows project to get an idea of how I enjoy involving the supporters in the process )
Thanks for your support!
Just think about it! You could even make Skeletor!

Risks and challenges
This is now my second project of this type and most of the shipping and fulfillment lessons have been learned during production of my last project, Pigs vs Cows, which turned out great!
The injection-molding vendor I am using has done a number of Kickstarter-based projects in the past, and has proven to be reliable and realistic in their manufacturing expectations.
The big challenge will be to get all of the digital artwork completed in a timely fashion. The digi-sculpts and prototypes have already been completed, so it will be any stretch goal items that would need to get fast-tracked to make everything happen in a timely fashion.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
