We have surpassed our initial $6,000 goal! Please click the "update" tab at the top of this page and watch our Update #4 video to see us celebrate and to learn more about our stretch goals.
- $8,000 - At this level we will increase compensation to our composers to reward them for their generosity. They may even write us longer compositions!
- $10,000 - At this level Tromboteam! can fund our 2013 summer tour and 2014 summer trombone camp. More funds will allow us to visit more audiences and stay on the road longer. This will also cover the start-up costs for our summer trombone camp.
- $15,000 - With this level of funding, Tromboteam! can record and produce a professional CD, and anyone who has pledged $35 or more will receive a copy. That's right, pledging to this kickstarter campaign could get you a pre-order of Tromboteam!'s debut album.
Why should I back your project?
Do you love the arts, music, and/or trombone?
Do you want to see the arts flourish?
Do you want to support the creation of new music and put it in the hands of enthusiastic, driven individuals?
If you answered YES to any or all of these questions, then you are in the right place. We need YOUR support!
Who are you guys?
We are Tromboteam!, a unique trombone quartet comprised of FIVE members: Jennifer Griggs, John Grodrian, Ben McIlwain, Sarah Paradis, and Craig Watson. We began as a self-initiated, hard-working, fun-loving student ensemble at Tennessee Tech University ten years ago. Since then we have evolved a great deal: we have practiced and performed together A LOT, we have earned a collective total of 13 prestigious degrees in music, we have traveled to all corners of the United States and abroad to play trombone, and now we have launched a Kickstarter campaign!
What will you use this money for?
Good question. Just like most musicians, composers make a living by working their butts off! Many composers work on commissions, which means that they are asked to write a specific work for a particular group, and they get paid in return for writing their wonderful music. This is exactly what Tromboteam! has done. We have successfully obtained commitments from NINE of our favorite composers who have all agreed to write music for us! The funds that we raise will be used to pay for the works we have commissioned. This way talented composers may continue to make a living in the musical arts by writing music for trombone, and trombonists will have new music to perform.
What’s next for Tromboteam!?
Tromboteam! wants to reach higher, go further, and make a bigger impact on the world. We want to spread our love for trombone by performing for student and community audiences across the country and encouraging the creation of new music. We even plan to host a trombone camp for young aspiring trombonists! With this project, we will contribute to the somewhat limited quartet/quintet literature by commissioning works by several of today’s best composers. We will perform these works for a variety of audiences, including: students (middle school, high school, and college), community members, and at music conferences. We want to give everyone the opportunity to hear this new music, so all contributors will receive a live stream of our premiere recital. Plus, those who pledge $25 will receive a digital download while those who pledge $35 or more will receive a CD of our world premiere performance!

How do I back your project?
With as little as $1, you can support our pursuit to expand trombone artistic excellence. AND we have worked very hard to provide YOU with several rewards to choose from! All you have to do is click on the green “Back This Project” button on the right side of this page. Then you will be prompted to complete your purchase with Amazon. Your card won’t be charged until our project successfully funds at the end of the project deadline. Remember, Kickstarter is ALL OR NOTHING. If we don't reach our goal we don't receive any pledges, so spread the word and tell your friends to support new music!
What if you raise more $ than your goal?
We’re so glad you asked! Tromboteam! has big plans for our future, but the first thing we will do with any surplus is put it toward more music! We'll give each of our composers a bigger check and in return, they'll write us more music. Like we said in our video, this project is the first step in a list of goals we have outlined. Any extra money this project raises will go toward reaching these goals and sharing Tromboteam! with the world.
