The Tycho Puzzle is an intriguing mental and physical challenge. It's difficult to solve, satisfying to hold, and beautiful to display.
Comprised of eight pieces of brass and stainless steel, the Tycho Puzzle’s components fit together to form a cube with gently rounded edges.
The Tycho Puzzle is small but mighty, measuring 1.8 inches across and weighing almost 1.5lbs.
The Tycho Puzzle comes packaged in a custom cork box, which echoes its dimensions and shape, and will protect it in transit. Once you've safely received your puzzle, the box is quite nice for storage, transport, and display. But it also stands on its own as a really handsome object.
The Tycho Puzzle also features a hidden interior cavity that’s a perfect place to conceal a meaningful surprise.
The solution to the puzzle might initially seem obvious, but upon closer inspection there are nuances, asymmetries, and interferences that prevent a simple stacked approach.
In a time when our attention is increasingly divided, the experience of pure focus is all too rare.
With the Tycho Puzzle, we’ve created a compelling object that activates the mind and roots you in the present moment.
In developing the Tycho Puzzle, we set out to create a physically and conceptually challenging puzzle with an uncompromising approach to aesthetics and materiality.
We explored a wide variety of interlocks and functionalities, and ultimately landed on a dissection puzzle—a solid shape split into interlocking parts—made with contrasting metals.
We sculpted the curves and profiles of each piece to be increasingly fluid, as if the two metals were woven together.
The Tycho Puzzle is our most complex and sophisticated project to date—both from a design and manufacturing perspective. The puzzle is produced through a combination of die-casting and precision machining, which ensures a solid fit and a beautiful surface finish.
The Tycho Puzzle is the newest addition to our collection of puzzles. It melds together the materials, forms, and concepts from the Jack and Venn Puzzles, while incorporating a whole new set of challenges.
We’ve spared no expense with material, precision, or manufacturing—we want this to be an heirloom keepsake that you’ll be proud to hold on to and pass down.
Each puzzle pledge made in the first 24 hours will include a token of our affection hidden within (it’s not a cashew).
Founded in 2015, Craighill is a product design company based in New York City. We harness the power of industrial manufacturing to make beautiful, enduring objects that spark a sense of wonder.
After launching the Venn Puzzle last year on Kickstarter, we were thrilled to connect with a passionate community of puzzle enthusiasts all over the world. The strong response to the Venn Puzzle encouraged us to continue taking risks and developing exciting new products.
Throughout these developments, our primary objective has remained the same: to nurture curiosity, and foster consciousness of the built world.
