Hear what the critics have to say about Blockers!
g33k-hq.com - "If you are looking for a fun, energetic game for all ages then you will want to order a copy of Blockers! The game is perfect for the casual gamer, or the hardcore competitive gamer alike! There are many different ways the game can be played, we really enjoyed the Head-To-Head in a competition!" - 8.5/10

Blockers: The Stacking Game is a fast-paced, highly competitive tabletop stacking game. You face off against as many, or as little opponents as you like, trying to get as many points as possible. You do this by building structures out of colourful wooden blocks. These structures have to match the structures on the cards that you draw.
The odds are stacked against you, can you be fast enough to be better than all the rest?
Disclaimer: Any and all real-life components shown in images and videos are hand-made prototypes and do not represent the final product. The final product will be professionally manufactured.

We are going to be working with the well respected manufacturer LongPackGames to manufacture our game. The current agreement is for them to manufacture all components of our game, including a 2 piece game box, wooden blocks, a timer, cards, an insert, and instruction manual.
We have received an assortment of samples from LongPack, and we can confirm their high quality manufactured products as well as safe and secure shipping.
Just so you can check the customs fees before you back, the dimensions and weight of the box are as follows: 240mmx160mmx45mm with a weight of approx. <2kg.
We expect some countries to not charge customs fees for this small of a package, so make sure to check first if this is an issue for you.
As far as timing for shipping goes, the November estimate is a safe estimate. As long as borders play nicely and we receive the products on schedule, we assume most backers will get their copies of Blockers before September. However, if you add merch to your order, this could delay it slightly at the fulfillment stage.
Hey! I’m Niall Crabtree, the lead designer of Blockers. I just wanted to make a little section where I talk about the design process of the game.
Blockers has been in full-time development for a little over 6 months as the Kickstarter goes live, but has been an idea in my head for around 18 months.
When designing this game, we wanted to cover four bases thoroughly. Casual, competitive, meta-driven and scaleable.
Casual - We managed to make a comprehensive rule set (around 100 words for the main rules) and get people playing the game within a minute of reading the rules. This was our effort to achieve the easy to learn, hard to master effect.
Competitive - Because of the rapid-fire rounds and the easy to understand and responsive point system, it makes it easy for players to compete against each other over and over, and feel like they are improving.
Meta-Driven - This came rather late in the development process (just over two months ago), but with the addition of the discard mechanic (the ability to discard a structure card so you don't have to build it, but at the cost of 1 point), we managed to add a surprising amount of depth to the game. We now expect people to find different optimal ways of play by discarding cards. As people play for the first time, we expect most people to discard lvl. 4 cards in order to get to easier cards in the deck. This was a really exciting design breakthrough for me personally!
Scaleable - A scaleable player base was massive for us, probably the most important aspect of the design other than the base gameplay. Our recommended player size is 1-12, but this is only limited by the deck size. I personally have had experiences where I can‘t play games just because I don’t have enough players, or too many players, to play with. This isn’t a problem with our game. Also having the game be playable for one person allows for people to practice and improve before their next play session, which I personally thought was important.
The best part of the design experience for me has been the playtesting. Watching people play our game, the game that I have designed, has been an incredible experience. I can’t wait for others to get their hands on it for just this reason, all the YouTube videos please!
Anyway, thank you for reading my ramblings, and I hope you decide to back the game, I have plenty more games to share with you guys!

Above is an example of one of the reasons why this project took such a long time to develop despite the gameplay being relatively simple. Because our game is fast-paced and requires the player to be able to read and understand the card in under a second, we need to spend a lot of time designing and play testing different types of cards.
The photo above contains just a small percentage of the iteration process throughout development.
When we dug the older versions out of the drawer they were hiding in, we were so proud to see how far the game had come. (Also cringed at what we thought were good ideas at the time).
Risks and challenges
The main risk with our game is when it will be shipped to our warehouses in the UK. However, as long as the borders let our products through in the current estimated time frame, we should meet our expected delivery date to our backers.
Brexit - This could change customs fees in the EU, that is why we haven't labeled that European countries will not have to pay tariffs. However, the parcel size and weight does count as a small parcel, so most countries will not have to pay customs fees anyway. Nonetheless, we do advise backers to check the dimensions and weight of the game and check with their own countries borders before backing.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
