Fast, deep and fun!
In War Stories, you control squads of soldiers and vehicles battling against one or more opponents. Our first two War Stories releases, Red Storm and Liberty Road, depict Soviet and American battles against the Nazis during World War 2. Each scenario is contested over a realistic period map, with each side receiving unique and often secret objectives for the engagement. You can augment your starting forces with additional units or a wide variety of special assets such as machine guns, bazookas, artillery, intelligence reports, mines and many more: dozens to choose from in total. Buy as much as you want, but each purchase costs you a victory point handicap, so spend wisely! Once the scenario begins your orders are executed quickly and resolving combat is just a simple card draw with no calculations whatsoever. Despite the game being fast-playing and easy-to-learn it is highly realistic and encourages real combat decisions in a tense fog of war. Nothing else on the market is like it.
A tabletop game. A miniatures system.
While War Stories is a tabletop game, our system is designed to be seamlessly adapted for miniatures play. To help our backers get started with easy, ready-to-play miniatures we have limited edition sets featuring the legendary “World Tank Museum” line of 1:144 scale pre-assembled, pre-painted tanks. Our Liberty Road minis packages also include four units from the similarly high-quality "21st Century Toys" line. These are nearly imperceptibly different from World Tank Museum and make a seamless package together.

Our gorgeous miniatures
The most realistic models that are ready to go out-of-the-box ever made, we offer packages of the War Stories games with different configurations of these epic sculpts. Quantities are very limited and, while you can find individual units for sale in different places, the scarcity of Soviet and American equipment means this is essentially your last chance to pick up these great minis. They are so nice that they make great display pieces too. If our campaign is a big success, with our later stretch goals, we will release our own line of minis, true to the quality of the WTM and 21st Century series, eventually covering the full range of our World War 2 games and expansions.

Moving units is as simple as can be because every move costs "one point". Open ground areas are larger than dense buildings or woods so no terrain effects charts! Your opponent has an opportunity to fire, and you complete the move – or get pinned down in that field if they happen to have a machine gun ready! You can create a virtually infinite number of battlefields with our mounted snowflake maps that each connect 6 different ways. All sight blocking terrain can be viewed plainly as 3D overlays. Each player holds their own hand of unique order cards. They are available to you every turn, and reflect unique doctrine and tactics of each nation. You may also buy special orders for using technology such as smoke or radios. Pick your order and activate your units. Simple but not simplistic. Choose your orders carefully, as each has a time element and elaborate orders might give your opponent too much time to regroup. And beware - if you're too bold opportunity fire can end your turn abruptly and hand initiative to your opponent!
True fog of war
In real warfare, when you are advancing, you don’t know where the enemy is. War Stories integrates a deep-but-simple fog of war into every battle. Everything is placed on the map - no writing down hex coordinates of hidden units! Mines, ambushes, strong points, secret objectives, and DUMMY markers are setup face down – until they are stumbled upon. If you race across the map you might get blown up – just like in real-life. Unknown damage markers create uncertainty when tanks are penetrated but don't immediately "brew up". This tension adds a great deal of fun to the battle experience.
More than just riflemen or engineers, your units are either conscripts, regular, veteran or elite. Each of these “levels” of combat experience reflects different abilities that translate to how effective you fight and how able you are to recover from adversity. This subtle layer of realism adds significant strategy to how you play.
By using our asset cards to hold all of the rules for special weapons we are able to throw the kitchen sink into the chrome and details with zero rules overhead. You’re going to have access to cool assets that you’ve maybe never even heard of before but were part of the war and are hella cool to get your hands on.
War Stories: Red Storm
World War 2 in Europe was won and lost in Mother Russia. Over 90% of the casualties and equipment lost happened between the Axis nations and the Soviets and their allies. Red Storm covers the middle years of the eastern front, particularly the pivotal Battle of Kursk. The most powerful late war German vehicles are first making their appearance, and the Soviets’ legendary T-34 tank is complemented by increasingly skilled and experienced Soviet squads. Some of the greatest tank battles in history happened during this period, and you will be able to relive them – with your unique twists, of course!
War Stories: Liberty Road
In the United States we grew up with stories of D-Day, liberating France and finally penetrating the inner sanctum of a collapsing Nazi regime. War Stories: Liberty Road brings this part of the war to life. Underpowered Shermans use numbers and tactics to get the better of the hulking German Tigers and Panthers. Brave squads of Americans and British take on German forces that are increasingly watered down, owing to the horrendous losses suffered from years of total war. Both sides fought with extreme courage, and Liberty Road tells their stories.

Risks and challenges
Producing board games is extremely capital-intensive. While we have invested time and money into the design of War Stories, investing in actually getting it produced is greatly significant. For a young board game company, getting this capital to enable its production is crucial.
War Stories is our fourth game. We are a completely bootstrapped game publishing company. Previously we used Kickstarter for Road to Enlightenment, The New Science and Tomorrow. In each case, to get the game published, we were in a position where we needed to spend our personal money. Thanks to Kickstarter we did not need to decide either to not make the game at all, or end up making risky investments with our personal savings. We were able to confidently publish our games and bring them to everyone. War Stories is the same.
Road to Enlightenment and The New Science were both able to be delivered to our backers within a month of our promised due date. Tomorrow's development is progressing at the expected pace and we look forward to also delivering it in a timely manner.
Since the initial War Stories efforts are focused on World War 2 - arguably the most crowded genre in wargaming - we are looking for validation that these games and system are of interest to the market.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
