About this project
NOT JUST ANY OLD ARMY
Not a documentary of war or the Army. It demonstrates the struggles faced by every infantryman in the army; whether it's in OSUT, PDT, or EAS. The sacrifices from each of these soldiers is immense and deserves to be recognized and treated with respect from every American.
- Riley, (USA-RET)
This is a story that is two-hundred thirty eight years in the making. It's the heritage and history that has made the United States Army into what it is now. In the early years of the US Army, recruits enlisted for reasons that only patriots can relate to, women and children's survival counted on these men to be victorious. Now, with the vast amount of media access, the soldiers in recent times enlist because they have a choice. A choice to defend the country they love in addition to receiving a paycheck. Now days, many recruits enlist in the US Army to obtain education or a trade, only a few choose to follow the footsteps of our forefathers and enlist to become part of an elite brotherhood. Many of the soldiers who are accepted into the US Army's School of Infantry are selected to become Rifleman, the men who take pride in killing their enemies one by one; only a few are chosen to become Mortar men, who take pride killing the enemy with precision and surprise. With the standard infantry training, soldiers can be assigned to any type of unit and that means they need to be ready at any time. Not Just Any Old Army focuses on the training these men receive and their personal experiences within the brotherhood. While many soldiers enlist to join the 75th Ranger Regiment or Special Forces, the soldiers in the Infantry Branch are the ones who win the wars. These men can be assigned to various types of units and even the face of the Army; in the 3rd Infantry Regiment based in Washington D.C.
From Day One of Basic Combat Training to the Turning Blue Ceremony, this Documentary will show America why the United States Army is different from just any old army in the world; you should not expect the entire film to be silent or black and white clips. Along with the OSUT, Not Just Any Army will look at the daily life of an Infantryman and provide an intimate look into the US Army's functional ability with topics such as: the EIB Test, Airborne, Sniper, Air Assault, Women in Combat and much more! Not Just Any Old Army will explore the obstacles that many soldiers face after deployments and separation. This is a documentary unlike any others and you can be responsible for the creation, own limited edition copies, and join the crew in the production of the film! Our plans include a special "Recruit" edition that provides an exclusive look into the Army's Basic Combat Training and a "Soldier" edition that provides a first person perspective into the daily life of an American soldier. Of course, the original edition of the film will feature scenes from both of these cuts, but we want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to purchase these before everyone else with an excellent discount! Every edition of the film that is rewarded on this kickstarter will feature a custom box art for your copy (Traditional Artwork by our artists).
From the perceptions of movies and video games, the majority of Americans think they know everything about being an Infantryman; from shooting to training, Not Just Any Old Army aims to change these perceptions by bringing the audience directly into the action and life of a soldier. From Day One of Basic Combat Training to the Turning Blue Ceremony, soldiers will be mentality and physically broken down to a point where they are reconstructed into a warrior. These warriors who receive the Blue Cord will be inducted into the exclusive brotherhood of Infantry.
Documentaries about military training camps are not new by any means; what's new is our modern techniques that enhance the ability to relay the energy to the viewer. Our film teams plan to film inside the United States' Home of Infantry in Fort Benning, GA. Here, our viewers will discover the day to day life of these soldiers from the beginning of their careers when reporting and to the end of their careers after separation of service. Not Just Any Old Army honors all soldiers: past, present and future; while recognizing their sacrifices given each day.
Any soldier within the Infantry Branch has an abundance of training opportunities that include: Airborne, Sniper, Pathfinder, Air Assault; and many more! Our highly experienced film teams will capture that amazing and hard life that would put any 9-5 job to shame! Not Just Any Old Army is a competitor that will put any military documentary you've seen on National Geographic and the History Channel!
What the Money is For
The money would allow the crew to purchase equipment that will not only portray these soldiers, but bring the audience into the scene! We plan to use state of the art technology, such as GoPro Products, to bring the first person perspective to the audience. This equipment includes items such as cameras, microphones, stock footage, artwork, filming permits, film, software, location and travel expenses, shipping and handling, etc. A list of equipment purchased will be presented near the finish date.
This project is special to many veterans and to us. We're going to dedicate everything we have to this project and without the money you have the chance to provide, we may never see this finished. Once our crew secures the permits from the federal government and necessary stock footage, we can expect the project to be finished in twenty weeks (more if we reach the stretch goals).
The pledge amounts are too high! Our rewards are one of our big focus and we want to use the best materials for as rewards for your contribution while making sure the infantrymen get the recognition they deserve!
While Not Just Any Old Army's main focus is the Infantry, our stretch goals allow us to expand our focus that would bring more in a larger audience.

About CPR Design
CPR Design was created to bring jobs to veterans who left service honorably and hold the US military in high regards. These veterans are tired of seeing new recruits treat the military without respect or honor, as if it were just any old army.
Our Film Team is led by E. S. Riley, a retired First Sergeant that served in The Gulf War, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Writer, Sergeant First Class, Gerald Eubanks (USA-RET), is a graduate from the University of Virginia; he led a recon platoon in the Middle East.
Risks and challenges
The risks associated with "Not Just Any Old Army" are common production challenges such as equipment and permit fees. Once the deadline is over, our equipment is purchased, and the permits are approved we will be on the home stretch of the project! The crew is one hundred percent dedicated to finishing this project and nothing will stop us!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
