Max is a 29 year old children's book author who is currently going through a creative drought. Upon hearing that he has only 48 hours to come up with an ending to his 12th book from his franchise Pretzel and Gibbes Take An Adventure his sister calls to inform Max that his parents are getting a divorce.
Depressed and confused Max decides to confide in his two childhood friends. Only problem is his two childhood friends are the cartoon monkey and rabbit from his books. Max and his two cartoon friends decide to go on adventures like they used to when Max was young so Max can come up with an ending to his book. While on these adventures Max ends up finding out more about himself and his past.
Hello everyone! My name is Courtney Schultz and I am the creator, writer & director of the film A Book Ends. This short is my New York Film Academy thesis film that I plan on sending out to festivals around the world when completed. However, in order to complete this film and my dream I need your help.
This film will be shot in two different locations Manhattan, NY and New Milford, CT so I need to provide transportation and living for my crew and cast as well as pay for various locations. I have a crew of over twelve New York Film Academy students all from my class who are all volunteering to help. In return, I simply feed them for the week and return the favor for their thesis films.
As you may assume I am doing 3D animation in my film for when Pretzel (the monkey) and Gibbes (the rabbit) come to find Max. I have an amazing animator named Gary Schultz (no relation, just a dude with an awesome last name) who is willing to help me make Pretzel and GIbbes come alive. Gary and his team down in Florida all attend the Digital Media Arts College in Boca Raton for 3D animation.
To create Pretzel and Gibbes, they will be cartoon characters in the real world (think Roger Rabbit) as well as green screen. In order to create this look for my film I need a specific camera that I need to rent as well as a green screen.
I am asking for a small donation for a big dream. Not many students aim this high with the animation and the filming but for my last film I have decided to make it all or nothing. I want to thank everyone for reading my kickstarter page and a special thank you to anyone who donates. No donation is too small, I will appreciate any help I can get. Thank you all for helping make Pretzel, Gibbes and my dream come to life!
